After a long period of reflection, we're announcing that Forest School Oahu will be closing its doors at the end of 2024. We want to extend the biggest and warmest mahalo to all of our forest school families.
We are so happy to have had the time to look back on our journey so far and celebrate all of the milestones we reached with you. As we set our sights on new goals we are so grateful for all of the children and families we've had an absolute blast with!

Our hearts are full of gratitude for our amazing community and for all of the friends we have made along the way.
Your love for learning and nature has inspired us every day. Remember, you can still experience the forest school ethos with your ohana on this beautiful island: even if you only have a short period of time to go into nature with your keiki, reflect their curiosity and excitement back to them and you will not only create a wonderful attachment bond between you but a life long learner and lover of nature.

Thank you for helping us nurture a love for the outdoors and lifelong learning- You've made our journey unforgettable.

We will keep our socials open so that you can always contact us should you need to in the future. Mahalo nui loa🌿✨

🚨A reminder for all of our friends: We are taking a break in September for some much needed family time, which means that this week is our final week of sessions for a while!
📍We will be at Nu’uanu on Wednesday and Kapi’olani on Friday.
💻BOOK via the link in our bio.

🎨Please remember to give us at least 24 hours between your booking and the session to ensure that we have enough supplies for your keiki.

🤔We’re going to take some time during our break to reflect on what has been working and not working for our Forest School which is why our next term dates listed are not yet listed. We appreciate your patience!
Please feel free to email us via our website or message us here if you have any feedback.

💚Mahalo, as always, for your support.
🌺 See you in nature soon!

This week at Explorers Club we will learn the art of natural printmaking!

Hapa-zome is a Japanese printmaking technique that means “leaf dye”.
We will use the natural pigments in our plants to create our own artwork on cloth or paper. We’ll forage for our natural materials and then practice tool use, hitting and bashing with hammers, mallets or rocks.
Keiki will also have the option and guidance to take time to create special designs like mandalas.

This technique provides a great context for keiki to explore their natural surroundings using a range of materials in nature and then express themselves through a traditional art and design technique.

The cost for this activity includes additional dye / natural materials such as flowers and berries, and a natural cloth bag for keiki to dye and take home with them.

We will be using messy materials and grown ups are advised to ensure that keiki are dressed in old clothes or dark colors which they do not mind getting stained or dirty. It is possible that keiki will get stained hands as well if using berries.

There are spaces left to book to join us at this week’s session at Nu’uanu Valley Park.
