Dear Patients,
At Honolulu Vision Care Center, we are dedicated to the health and safety of our patients, staff and community. The most recent CDC guideline has recommended that all routine eye visits be postponed as part of the social distancing measure to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. As a result:
---We have made the decision to temporarily postpone all routine eye care visits.
---We will be available to see Urgent Eye Care by appointment only.
---The office doors will be closed to any walk-ins. If you are a patient with Glaucoma, an At-risk condition, or Urgent Service appointment, you will be asked to telephone us upon arrival at 808-396-6311.
---We are now offering the option of Telehealth for the urgent eye care visit, please call us for more information.
---Our phone lines will remain open to help answer any concerns or questions you may have.
---We may still be able to process contact lens orders (including free shipping), please call us.
Thank you for your understanding and your loyalty to our practice. Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by COVID-19, and as always, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Friday funnies. Happy Aloha Friday!

January is Glaucoma Awareness Month!
"What is the “silent thief of sight”? It is glaucoma and is referred to as silent because it gradually reduces vision without early symptoms and can ultimately end in blindness. Blindness from glaucoma can often be prevented with early detection and treatment. Treatment can be as simple as medicated eye drops used daily.
The goal of treatment is to slow the progression of vision loss to a point where upon a person does not notice any vision changes that affects their day to day life. The important thing to remember is that early detection is the key because any vision loss that has occurred from glaucoma cannot be regained. This is one of the many reasons people should have their eyes examined yearly.
At Honolulu Vision Care Center, we approach vision care through prevention and early detection. With technologically advanced products, services, and equipment our caring team of 5 assistants and 2 optometrists can help you to maintain a lifetime of good eye health!" -Dr. Nora Chan
