Infants with severe RSV need urgent medical attention. Symptoms to watch for may include:

🔵 Short, shallow and rapid breathing
🔵 “Caving-in” of the chest in between the ribs and under the ribs called chest wall retractions
🔵 Nasal flaring (spreading out of the nostrils) may occur with every breath and abnormally fast breathing may be noticed
🔵 Their mouth, lips and fingernails may turn a bluish color due to lack of oxygen

World Pneumonia Day

Today is World Pneumonia Day and we’re partnering with to share three important facts about the most common type of bacterial pneumonia, pneumococcal pneumonia.

⏰ Pneumococcal pneumonia can strike anytime, anywhere, in any season, so now is the time to talk to a healthcare provider about pneumococcal vaccination.

🏥 Adults 65+ are over 10 times more likely to be hospitalized with pneumococcal pneumonia than adults aged 18-49.

🔵 Pneumococcal pneumonia vaccination is available to help prevent the disease. The recommends pneumococcal vaccination for adults 65 years or older and adults 19-64 with certain underlying medical conditions like asthma and COPD.
