For those diagnosed with cancer, the journey to healing can be a tough and lonely one. But there are support groups available, one of which is the Cancer Survivorship program at The Queen’s Medical Center.
On this episode of Ask a Specialist on the KHON2 News we’re talking about what you need to know with Kristy Fujinaga, RN, BSN, OCN, Clinical Nurse Navigator at The Queen’s Medical Center.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with everyone impacted by the tragedy on Maui. Our Queen’s Emergency Management Team continues to respond and fulfill supply requests from the County of Maui Emergency Management Team to support the recovery efforts.

• Our radiology technicians who have volunteered to work at Maui Memorial Hospital to augment their imaging team.
• Dr. Nadine Tenn Salle, our Clinical Program Chief of Pediatrics, is part of a team from the Governor’s Office evaluating pediatric care needs and discussing important next steps with government officials.

Thank you to our amazing team! Since last week, our Queen’s multidisciplinary team has been deployed to Maui. We have partnered with organizations including Kaiser Permanente to bring behavioral health services at shelters, hotels, and stand-up clinics in Wailuku and Lahaina. Additionally, a medical doctor is attached to the team to ensure that all needs can be addressed, no matter the situation.

They evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 21 procedures and conditions; only 12% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals ranking.
We are devastated by the loss of lives, homes, and businesses due to the wildfires. We extend our deepest gratitude to the brave firefighters and other emergency personnel who have worked tirelessly to save lives and property.
Queen’s stands united with our community and is fully committed to providing unwavering support during this challenging time. We are working closely with state government officials, Hawai‘i Healthcare Emergency Management (HHEM), and all of the health systems to ensure the safety and well-being of all the people of Hawai‘i. We have also established a fund so our employees can contribute much-needed relief to the people of Maui. Additionally, the Governor’s Office has announced that donations are being accepted by the Salvation Army, the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, and the American Red Cross of Hawai‘i.
Thank you to members of the Queen's ‘ohana who joined last Saturday's Heart Walk! Queen's team had the biggest presence, with 585 walkers! Supporting American Heart Association’s Heart Walk means “more research, more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more medical breakthroughs, and more champions for equitable health.” So big mahalo to everyone who participated in the event!

We recently hosted Waipahu High School’s Health Academy students who are participating in UH Manoa’s Health Care Opportunity Program. The group explored The Queen’s Medical Center – Manamana (Punchbowl) campus, toured the labor/delivery and nursing units, and engaged in surgical practice and activities. The students and faculty members had hands-on experience operating tools and practicing with our Stryker and Da Vinci robotic surgery machines. We enjoyed hosting them and look forward to extending this incredible site visit experience to other schools.
