👩‍🍳🍊 Our Executive Director, Mary, shared a special tradition with us today!

Every year, she makes her homemade cranberry sauce for our residents and their families — a recipe loved by all. Today, she treated our residents to a live cooking demonstration as we prepare for our Friends & Family Feast this Friday. The room smelled amazing, and the joy of cooking together made it even sweeter. 💛

Here’s Mary’s cherished recipe:

Ingredients:
• 1 bag of cranberries
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup water
• 1/2 an orange
• Splash of vanilla
• Maple syrup to taste

Instructions:

Bring water and sugar to a boil. Add cranberries and continue boiling until they all pop, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and zest half an orange into the pot. Squeeze the juice from the orange half into the mixture (orange pulp is optional). Add a splash of vanilla and stir.

Taste — if it’s too tart, add maple syrup a splash at a time. Cover and refrigerate for 48 hours to let it set into a jelly-like consistency.
