Hot Springs National Park’s Pullman Trail connects with the Northwoods Trails - Hot Springs biking system? The Pullman Trail is 0.9 miles and rated as 'moderate-strenuous.' If you don’t have a mountain bike, have no fear! This trail is also shared with hikers, and it connects to other park trails, like the Sunset Trail.
The Pullman Trail offers gradual switchbacks through the Ouachita Mountains and the unique opportunity to see artifacts like an old car, bottles, and tin cans.
**Please note: These archeological artifacts are protected by federal law and should be left in place.
There are two ways to access the Pullman Trail. One trailhead is located at the end of Pullman Avenue, and another trailhead can be accessed through the Northwoods Trail system located at Waterworks.
The history of this town is incredibly interesting!
Today is the first day of ! Hot Springs is widely considered to one of the first national parks established for the promotion of human health and well-being.
Since 1832, the federal government has protected Hot Springs as essentially a giant nature hospital. Different generations developed different medical facilities and standards of care using the thermal spring water.
In 1917, the Secretary of the Interior called the Hot Springs, “Springs of Healing.”
He wrote: “The reservation is the oldest national park, having received that status in 1832, forty years before the wonders of the Yellowstone first inspired Congress with the idea that scenery was a national asset deserving of preservation…No aesthetic consideration was involved in this early act of national conservation. Congress was inspired only by the undoubted natural power of these waters to alleviate certain bodily ills.”
Hot Springs has been telling and serving America’s Public Health journey for nearly two centuries through:
âś… Widely known medicinal springs
âś… Scientific analysis to examine curative characteristics

âś… Medical Journals
✅ Doctors’ prescriptions

âś… Government-free Bathhouse
