Hi, everyone! My name is Lexi, and Iām thrilled to share my journey in the Dakota Showdown Horse Trainer Challenge with you. Over the next 100 days, Iāll be working with Dewey, an incredible rescue mustang, and I couldnāt be more excited about the adventures ahead.
My love for horses started when I worked as a trail guide for three years. During that time, I truly fell in love with these amazing animals. Horses have always fascinated me, and that passion led me to get my own horses, attend clinics, compete in horse shows, and take lessons to grow my skills. Iāve been eager to show off what Iāve learned along the way, but Iām just as excited to keep learning and evolving. On top of it all, Iām also a certified equine massage therapistāworking to ensure horses feel their very best!
Dewey joined me on Saturday, and heās already such a joy to work with. Heās a sweet, curious horse who loves being closeāwhat we call an āin-your-pocketā kind of horse. Weāve been working on understanding personal space, getting comfortable with being touched everywhere, and leading confidently around the pasture. Heās incredibly willing to follow me on our little adventures, and I love seeing his open-minded, eager spirit shine through.
This journey is about so much more than training; itās about building a bond based on trust, respect, and partnership. Dewey and I are learning from each other every day, and I canāt wait to see what we can achieve together. Thank you for following along, Iām excited to share our progress with you!
