COMMODITY DISTRIBUTIONS UPDATE: Beginning in September 2025, residents who qualify for commodities will now be able to collect commodities once a month instead of quarterly. The previously published commodity dates are no longer the designated day for commodity collection, as residents can now go at anytime once a month. The Office of Community Action is partnering with Catholic Charities and Second Harvest to offer the monthly commodities to residents who meet the requirements. All requirements remain the same (proof of ID, residency, and income).

Residents will now be served commodities once a month at the following locations:

ADDITIONAL LOCATION: The Lafourche Parish Brief Therapy Center is now accepting appointments from residents at the new Galliano Health Unit located at 101 W 112th Street, Cut Off, LA 70345. Appointments will also still be accepted at 5524 North Hwy 1 Suite B, Lockport, LA 70374.

Lafourche Parish residents can receive eight (8) sessions of therapy at no cost. As a reminder, these sessions are made possible by funds from the Opioid Abatement Fund. If you or a loved one is in need of services, please contact 985-304-HOPE (4673) to schedule an appointment. No referral required.

The Strong Single Mother Project will be launching on tomorrow!!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

The SSM Project is a pilot program that will extend through the end of the year and hopefully continue through next year and onward. Here at The Strong Single Mother Project, HAP is dedicated to fostering empowerment to our communitiesโ€™ single working mothers. This project is designed to support and fill in the gap to reduce emotional overload and strain to single mothers by providing an outlet to BREATH, RELAX, and REJUVENATE. The SSM Project is strongly committed to building a solid program to assist single working mothers in their daily areas of life from social wellness health to self-empowerment and enrichment. The goal of the SSM Project is to continue to expand and offer assistance/resources to single working mothers to help balance work, life, and children. HAP, through the SSM Project, is dedicated to always create innovative ways to support our single working mothers.โค๏ธ
Please follow the GUIDELINES closely to participate:
1. Must be a single mother
2. Must be a working mother at least 25 hours a week ( Provide proof of hours worked)
3. Must reside in either Lafourche, Terrebonne, or Assumption parishes ( Provide proof of residency)
Each month, beginning in September, a single mother will be chosen by the HAP Board and will receive a service or product to assist in relaxation and rejuvenation. ( HAP has put great thought into these services and products that will be given) A link will be provided on tomorrow to begin applying and the application process will end on Wednesday September 27th at 7pm. Any entries past 7pm on the 27th will not be considered. Please share this post to all single working mothers.
