“The postpartum hormone crash is considered the single largest sudden hormone change in the shortest amount of time for any human being, at any point of their life cycle.” -Aviva Romm

During our pregnancy, our estrogen and progesterone levels soar! Following the birth of our baby and placenta those levels plummet to those of menopausal women.

From day 3 to two weeks after birth, it is NORMAL to feel weepy and emotional. For weeks after, our body is attempting to stabilize and balance these hormones.

And what impacts our hormonal balance beyond the first 6 weeks? Stress and the amount of support we are receiving.

Cry! Crying reduces stress. Feel it all. Move through it. Get lots of support 🤍

We are told to rest in the postpartum, but so many people aren’t told WHY. And sometimes it’s the WHY that makes the difference between deep rest and deep regret.

The average size of a placenta 22cm in diameter. You could say it’s the size of a paper plate.

After we birth the placenta, we are left with a wound inside of our uterus where the placenta was attached. If we had this wound on the outside of our bodies, EVERYONE would be telling us to rest and helping us!

It takes on average 6 weeks for this wound to heal. And this is just average, because it depends on how much we rest our bodies and the nourishment we receive from food and support.

Do yourself a favor and REST and ask for help!

If you are a partner, friend or family member, take this information in, SUPPORT is what they need.

From mother to child, the bond of bacteria lasts a lifetime 🦠

The state of the mothers microbiome preconception through birth is what sets the scene for the child’s gut health for the rest of their life.

A baby’s microbiome is developed by-
🦠 Gestating in the womb
🦠 Coming through the birth canal
🦠 Nourishing at the breast

The bacteria break down our food, fight off infection, and boost our immune system!

It all starts with US!

There are tons of options out there when it comes to morning sickness!

But think about it, what you put in your body the baby also absorbs. Theses are just a few “safer” swaps to consider.

Always discuss supplements with your provider. Essential oils for topical use.

Feeding her the RIGHT foods following birth is of utmost importance. Heal her, rebuild her, and fuel her ✨

For 1 serving you’ll need:
1 cup unsweetened almond or coconut milk
1/4 cup chia seeds
1/4 tsp of the following ground spices:
Cinnamon
Cardamom
Turmeric
Ginger
Dash of sea salt
Dash of black pepper
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 tbs maple syrup

Stir together chia seeds and dry spices. Add in milk, vanilla, and maple syrup; stir. Let sit for 10 minutes, then stir again, cover and place in refrigerator for 3 hours, or ideally overnight. Stir again before serving. This pudding is delicious on its own, but feel free to add any ingredient.

Save. Share. Create. Enjoy!

We are so excited to be building Yoni Stools!

Even more excited that we’ve been getting feedback from customers! We hear you and thank you for giving us all the feedback.

We are coming up with an idea to make an adjustable bottom that way any size dish/ pot/ rice cooker can fit at the right height needed for that person. Along with a small hole to fit a cord.

Also…. This one I’m really excited about!! We want to maintain the natural essence of the wood but maybe use a different color stain. We are going to explore with food items to make the stain 😍

Due dates are really guess dates 🗓

Expect to be pregnant for 42 weeks.

Due dates create mind games. It sets an expectation that the baby WILL arrive by 40 weeks, then it doesn’t happen which turns into anxiety and stress. 75% of first time moms give birth by 41 weeks and 2 days.

Babies choose their birth days.

Your body is smart, trust it and release the date.

Anyone relate to this in their first trimester maybe even the second and third?! 🤰🏼🤢

Let’s be real, morning sickness sucks (and that’s being kind)!

While the cause of morning sickness has yet to be pinpointed, there are many factors thought to contribute to it manifesting. This includes the enormous increase in the production of hormones like estrogen and progesterone. It’s also the result of the body naturally shifting to an energy-demanding state of growth in the first half of pregnancy.

While there are many things thought to help end morning sickness, here are a few tips:

- When able to stomach food try to balance protein/ carbs/ fats as best as you can

- If we’re only eating carbs when we have an appetite, this could send your blood sugar on a roller coaster and make you feel worse

- Try not to wait to long in between eating. Providing a consistent meal, no matter how small the meal, can support the body’s tremendous muscle building output and keep nausea at bay.

When your appetite spikes it’s definitely important to take advantage of it and get some calories and nutrients in. However overeating or binging can also make you nauseas too 🥴

Smaller more frequent meals are the way to go 🍎🫐🍍🥔🧈🍳🥓🥩🍗

Ask yourself “what foods will nourish my body today” and REALLY listen.

In order to allow our bodies to heal, have happy hormones, and a well functioning digestive system we need to give our body the energy it needs to so. So where do we get that energy from?

The minerals and nutrients from our food.

Weekly grocery list items:

Bone Broth- helps to heal the gut lining and reduces gut inflammation

Carrots- decrease estrogen and cortisone and increase progesterone

Raw milk/ butter/ eggs- butter contains butyrate which is an anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory. Eggs and milk are superfoods when bought from the right farm! They are loaded with minerals and nutrients needed for digestive function and hormone production/ elimination

Organic orange juice/ coconut water- both rich in potassium, are very easy to digest, and great mineral sources

Grass-fed beef- another superfood! It’s a complete food protein source and contains all the essential amino acids

Sea salt- good quality sea salt is loaded with minerals and sodium. Sodium is an anti-stress and food for our adrenal glands

Food is medicine, food is energy for healing ❤️‍🩹

Have you head of the 🤚🏼\🤚🏼\🤚🏼 rule??

It’s 5 days in bed, 5 days on bed, and 5 days around the bed. After giving birth you should at the least plan to spend those first few days this way.

Do you remember birthing your placenta? There’s is a wound that size that needs to heal. Low activity and rest can promote healing of the perineal tissues, allow birther’s organs to reposition themselves, and reduce the length of postpartum bleeding.

Have your partner or others bring you anything and everything you may need. Request warm nourishing foods and drinks to be brought to you. Enjoy and take it all in.

Have you ever heard of a baby blessing or mother blessing?

A mother blessing is a ceremonial day of ritual designed to honor, nurture and shower the mother-to-be (or to be, again) with loving care before her baby arrives.
Surrounded by her closest female friends and family members, she enjoys a full day of pampering and care.

When a woman chooses to step onto the path of motherhood for the first, second or sixth time, a remarkable transition begins, weaving one chapter of life to the next. During this time it is important to create intentional ceremonies to honor this powerful shift: rituals that honor and support a woman's physical, emotional and spiritual growth alongside her growing child.

Motherhood is a rite of passage. It is a socially and culturally significant event whose effects ripple out into a community and beyond. How we mother and how we are treated during motherhood, pregnancy, birth and postpartum, ripples out into our future and the future life of our child. It sets the stage for whether our lives will be colored by fear, stress and isolation, or calm, confidence and connection. Somehow, we have forgotten just how significant this experience is for most women.

We all come from mother. We all return to mother earth. When we honor the mother, we honor everything that is. 🌏✨

Birth space matters!

A topic that you have to think about when preparing for a baby. You can focus on a birth space in hospitals also, it doesn’t just have to be at home.

Feeling relaxed and stress free can shorten labor times and reduce measurable pain levels.

You can make your birthing room a sanctuary by:
- Creating a music playlist
- Birth affirmations or a meaningful picture
- Dim lighting or fairy lights
- Essential oil diffuser
- Your favorite pillow and blanket

The space becomes magical with the love and oxytocin flowing! 💫
