Happy birthday to the one who made me a mom!
Can’t believe we have a teenager in our house’
Left pic: her 1st birthday 🥳
Right pic: today 🥳
My road to motherhood was more challenging than some but easier than others.
On January 19th 2009 my fertility doctor put me on the South Beach Diet.
By March 5th 2009 I had a positive pregnancy test.
After nearly a year of negative tests, I couldn’t believe it. Even the doctor was shocked because I had literally done every single thing she asked me to do - and it worked.
With pcos, the road to building a family can be filled with obstacles.
Some women with pcos are told they should assume they will have trouble having kids. While others receive no counseling on preserving fertility.
Here’s what I wish I knew when I was first diagnosed:
💜Lifestyle matters. Including diet and exercise.
💜Don’t be afraid of birth control.
💜Pcos patients probably consider seeing a fertility specialist even before they are ready to conceive.
💜We don’t talk about freezing eggs enough. Especially in higher risk women.
💜 each woman’s journey is unique and treatment plan should be formed accordingly
💜 infertility is not a forgone conclusion and the risk can be modified
I often hesitate to share my fertility journey because I know many women have a much harder journey.
But then I remind myself that every journey is valid. And maybe by sharing my story, someone else will feel seen.
Blessed are we that 13 years ago that we were given this little girl as our first born. She has made mommyhood a blessing beyond my wildest dreams. 💜
