• A Content Creator who understands storytelling, social media, and mission-driven brands

“Is it too late to get my placenta encapsulated?”

At Bee the Doula, we follow these 3 main guidelines when it comes to safety and timing of processing. As long as the placenta is stored this way, it’s not too late to encapsulate (or get chocolates😁):
1. Store on ice or fridge within 4 hours post birth.
2. Store in a fridge for ONLY 3-4 days.
3. Store in a (deep) freezer for no more than 6 months.

Other reasons we may NOT be able to encapsulate your placenta:
- Improperly stored after birth (see guidelines above)
- Fever of 100.4 or higher at delivery & post birth
- Infected with Hepatitis B,C or HIV
- It is sent to the lab for testing

So if you’re going back and forth about timing and whether you should book or not, review this post and if you meet the criteria, contact us! We can pick up same day OR for my type A people, we can get things set in stone ahead of time so it’s one last thing to worry about. 🩷

2025 was a year of growth and change for Bee the Doula and to see what it has become as we come into our 6th year, moves me to tears.
Bee the Doula started as a vision to be a beacon of hope for families in the Houston community and now that expands beyond just Bee.
The Team and Student Doulas have been killing it. Here’s some stats from the year:

I end 2026 with a Homework assignment for you all (yall already know):
- write down 3 things you wish to leave in 2025. Fold it 3 times away from you and burn it. Then in your journal or on your mirror Write down 3 affirmations as if it is already happened. EX: “I love my home that I own” or “I have 4-6 clients a month consistently”.
- Do whatever you gotta do to make those 3 affirmations come into fruition in 2026! No excuses!

violated EMTALA by not expediting this woman’s admission into the hospital when birth was clearly imminent!

EMTALA stands for the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act. Hospitals must provide a medical screening to determine if an emergency medical condition exists. If a patient has an emergency medical condition, the hospital must provide stabilizing treatment or an appropriate transfer to another facility. Immediate and appropriate transfer was delayed and not expedited even though the situation warranted it.

This is why laws like EMTALA are in place so that situations like this don’t happen. Clearly hospital staff at this location think it’s okay to violate those laws when it pertains to black mothers.

Where is the Department of Health & Human Services to enforce this violation??

A groundbreaking 2025 study published in Science Advances has revealed that while women experience a decline in the number of eggs as they age, the quality of those eggs at the DNA level remains surprisingly stable. In contrast, men’s s***m accumulates genetic mutations over time, making older fathers more likely to pass on DNA errors that can contribute to developmental and neurological conditions in their children.
Researchers found that these s***m mutations increase steadily with age, particularly after 40, while eggs showed minimal DNA damage accumulation. This challenges decades of assumptions about female fertility and aging — and flips the traditional “biological clock” narrative on its head.
The implications are significant: men’s age can influence conception success, pregnancy outcomes, and long-term child health just as much as women’s.
In essence, time affects both sexes — just in very different ways.
