I always need it the most when there’s no other chiros around 😔

I’m sensing a bit of jealousy..

While it’s true that chiropractic care does not fix your problems in one treatment, a care plan that is months long is not the answer either. In reality, these long care plans that require you to pay up front are in place to benefit the provider.

In my opinion, the burden should be on the provider to ensure the patients are making improvements and getting better. Extended treatment plans strip accountability from the provider because the patient is committed to their treatment whether it’s working or not.

The provider patient experience has to be a good fit and the provider should constantly be re-evaluating to ensure the patient is making progress toward their goals. If you’re not, you’re just wasting the patient’s time.

You can call that “job security” 😉

MRIs are a big piece to a clinical puzzle, but they are not the whole puzzle. A lot of times I see a provider order tests without a medical history or exam and just treat the findings. The problem is, these findings may not correlate to patient symptoms at all.

Function is just as important, if not more important, than structure when treating pain. You are not your imaging and your findings are not a crutch.

Here’s the adjustment video you wanted but didn’t ask for 😏

Research shows that the best approach to chiropractic care is a multimodal one that includes manipulation, but also other forms of treatment as well. Chiropractic and adjustments are not the same thing. Our scope is much more than that.

I hear doctors commonly tell people with pain and injuries to stop doing these exercises. Here are a few reasons why and why I don’t agree with that:

1. “They put too much load on the joints”
Exercise is supposed to put load. As long as it’s done in a progressive and controlled way, that’s how the body adapts and gets stronger.

2. “You can work those muscles in other ways”
True, but compound exercises are the most efficient way to strengthen, because they cross multiple joints. They also help build stability and coordination when done properly.

3. “They are not worth the injury risk”
Aside from the benefits I’ve listed already, these exercises translate to practical movements like lifting overhead and picking things from off the ground.

Inside the room, I take your condition and treatment seriously and with attentiveness. Outside the room, I just like to have a good time 😂

Now I know I’m going to catch some heat on this one, but just hear me out. First off I want to make very clear that I’m 100% against clinicians of other specialties fronting as if they are something they’re not. Patients have the right to know the credentials of the provider they’re consulting.

That being said, there are many other types of doctors, including but not limited to, DCs, DPTs, DOTs, DDS, PhD, podiatry, optometry, and SO MANY MORE. These individuals also completed schooling and board certification to legally call themselves a doctor.

Let’s get out of the habit of saying you’re not a “real doctor” if you’re not an MD or DO. It’s important to understand the world needs these other specialties as well.
