Not all violence is physical, and not all trauma comes with visible scars. When you feel that sting of invisible violence—a cutting comment, a dismissive glance, a system that leaves you unseen—your brain and body still react. These five tools can help you stay grounded, regulate your response, and protect your peace. Healing starts with awareness and skills.

Want to go deeper? Join us for The Trauma C.U.R.E., a 2-day virtual experience designed to help you understand the neuroscience of trauma and build real empathy skills that support healing.

We often think it’s the big traumatic events that break us. But as Dr. Nzinga shared on Demystifying Mental Health, it’s the daily micro-stressors, the constant “not enoughs,” that quietly wear down our resilience. This is why understanding the brain’s response to everyday stress is so critical to healing.

Tune in to Demystifying Mental Health with Dr. Alauna on .org every 4th Thursday, 12 PM CT.

🧠 And if you're ready to go deeper, join us May 31-June 1 for The Trauma C.U.R.E. , a virtual healing experience rooted in radical empathy. Ticket sales end May 23—don’t miss it! Learn more at www.thetraumacure.com

We’ve been taught to only call it “violence” if it leaves bruises. But your brain knows better. A sharp tone, a microaggression, being dismissed or ignored—your nervous system registers all of it as pain. This is the violence we don’t see, and it shapes us more than we realize.

At The Trauma C.U.R.E., we unpack how these invisible wounds affect our lives—and how empathy can help us heal. Join us May 31–June 1 for this 2-day virtual event. Tickets at www.thetraumacure.com

Transparency isn’t just a value—it’s a responsibility. At DA-TRI, we’re proud to have earned the Candid Gold Seal of Transparency—a reflection of our commitment to clear reporting, measurable results, and the healing journey we’re honored to support.

Our mission is bold: to eradicate trauma worldwide through Empathy Skills Practice for Traumatized Humans™—a revolutionary methodology that activates the brain’s most evolved center, the Prefrontal Cortex (PFC), to overcome the effects of trauma on our primitive brain systems.

One of the most powerful ways we bring this mission to life is through The Trauma C.U.R.E.: Creators Using Radical Empathy—our signature live virtual event.

Join us May 31–June 1 at to learn, connect, and experience the transformation for yourself.🎟️ Tickets: www.thetraumacure.com

Your Brain Is Running the Show—Do You Understand It? 🧠🤔 Every fear, reaction, belief, and emotional pattern comes from your brain. But most of us have never been taught how our own primitive systems keep us trapped in cycles of pain.

At The Trauma C.U.R.E. Virtual Live Event, we break it all down:

🔹 The 6 primitive brain systems that control your emotions, instincts and actions
🔹 Why people resist mental health conversations to their own destruction—even more than race, gender, sexuality or religion
🔹 How Empathy Skills Practice™ helps YOU rewire your brain for self-healing

This isn’t just about healing Your Self—it’s about helping your patients, clients, and loved ones by understanding trauma on a deeper level.

You can’t fix a problem you don’t understand. Let’s change that. 🎟️ Tickets at www.thetraumacure.com

Grateful to join the Historic Houston Chapter of Jack and Jill at TSU College of Pharmacy for an important conversation on the fentanyl crisis last weekend. I shared insights on how drugs impact the brain, centering on the Brain Reward System and the powerful pull of Dopamine on our choices.

We heard from parents who lost their children to opioids, and learned how to administer Narcan to combat overdoses. I was inspired by the powerful messages from all the speakers to do more to teach professionals and lay persons about the importance of understanding how the Primitive Brain Systems shape our Brain, Body and Behavior.

Let’s keep raising awareness and protecting our communities. 💜🧠

This past weekend at the Black Family Wellness Expo in 5th Ward Houston at the Finnegan Park Community Center, sponsored by the Houston-area chapters of The Links, Inc., we connected with families and changemakers who are passionate about whole-person wellness. Representing Mary Susan Moore Medical Society, I shared insights on our mission of connecting and supporting Black Women Physicians in the Houston-Galveston area. I also shared my message of emotional mastery and how understanding our brain’s response to trauma can transform how we show up for Our Selves, our families, and our future. 🧠💬 When we center radical empathy and community care, we make space for mind and body healing that lasts.

Thank you to the Mary Susan Moore Medical Society members and volunteers who showed up to contribute their expertise: Dr. Ashela Bean, Dr. LaResa Ridge and Medical Students Gabrielle T., Kennedy C., Alberta S., Racquel L., Ayomide I., Deba E., Sunita B., and Samantha L.

The state of our world demands more than silence—it demands truth. The belief in racial supremacy is a delusion rooted in trauma, not biology. We are 99.9% genetically identical. The divisions we see are symptoms of pain, passed down and reinforced through systems built on falsehoods.
That’s why I created The Trauma C.U.R.E. : Creators Using Radical Empathy.
This isn’t just another event—it’s a radical reframe of what mental health, identity, and healing really mean in today’s world. On May 31–June 1, join me and a community of change-makers for a 2-day transformative virtual experience designed to help you:
✅ See trauma clearly, Understand the brain-behavior connection, Gain real-time tools for healing, Set boundaries and prevent burnout with Empathy Skills Practice™
🧠 You can’t heal what you don’t understand. And once you see the truth, you can’t unsee it. Registration is open now. Don’t wait — this is the moment. www.thetraumacure.com

Physicians are on the front lines of health—and the front lines of trauma.Every day, you walk with people through their most painful, life-altering moments. But who’s helping you process that weight?

During , we honor your dedication and acknowledge the emotional toll it takes. Second-hand trauma is real. Burnout is real. And healing support shouldn’t be optional.

If you’re looking for a space to pause, process, and explore how trauma shows up in your work, and in Your Self, I’d like to invite you to The Trauma C.U.R.E. 2-Day Virtual Live Event designed to help physicians and healers like you.

Healing doesn’t mean stepping away from your work. It means learning to support others without losing Your Self.
