When the animal control officer is your best friend, you’re having a very bad day.

Save Our Strays Fort Bend is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization located near Houston, Texas. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters who are in danger of being euthanized, give them the medical care, nutrition and socialization they need in our caring foster homes, and find them permanent, loving, forever homes throughout the US and Canada. All donations can be made via PayPal account saveourstraysftbend@peoplepc.com please mark that the donation is to go to Eve. The night the BARC truck stopped in front of Eve, she was beyond caring what happened to her. It was near LBJ Hospital, full dark outside that night and pouring down rain. Eve was exhausted and it had been way too many days since she’d eaten. As the truck’s lights shone on her, she stood staring off into space, incapable of moving. Back at the shelter, Eve got to sleep under a roof for the first time in a very long time. Things were looking up! But, when the staff evaluated Eve and found that she is more than 12 years old, has heartworms, mammary tumors and terrible teeth, her prospects turned grim in a hurry. Eve went on the “Please help me NOW” list, and the Houston rescue community rallied! A wonderful woman named Suzanne offered to foster Eve for Save Our Strays, which is a great Houston rescue. Eve is thriving, but she urgently needs medical care: spay surgery, removal and biopsy of mammary tumors and dental cleaning. We are trying to raise $724 to cover the cost of these exams and surgeries. **Eve has had her surgeries, and we are currently waiting on results from the biopsy. Totals are from the initial exam and the surgery/biopsy cost, less the donations already received. With Suzanne and her family, Eve is flourishing. She can’t eat kibble but she eats a lot of canned food, she gets regular professional grooming care from Suzanne*, and she has endless hugs and loving from the family. This dog couldn’t have asked for a better end to the trip she took in the BARC truck on a rainy night. Could you be part of Eve’s journey to becoming whole and healthy? She has a chance to live the best possible life for several more years, and she and her rescue would be very grateful if you could be part of Team Eve. All donations can be made via Save Our Stray’s PayPal account saveourstraysftbend@peoplepc.com . Please note that your donation is for Eve.

*Suzanne owns Scrub-A-Dub Grooming & Boarding 281*876*8721 and has generously donated many services for Eve, so we wanted to note our appreciation for her generosity!

Eve-a got through her surgery with flying colors. Was up and eliminating by 6pm! Prognosis is good, so far. Tumors were sent off to be biopsied and we should get results within 2 weeks. A lump was found on her uterus and a tumor was for sure found on her mammary glands. Once biopsied, we will know what kind of cancer it is and how aggressive it is, but other than that, she's doing good and should heal and have a great life. Doc said to "keep doing what you're doing," and that "Eve-a is thriving with the care she is receiving." So, going to get things ready for her return tomorrow. Things just aren't the same without her here!!!

We say goodbye to Eve tomorrow for a few days. She will be greatly missed, but knowing she in good hands at Stafford Oaks Hospital is consolation.

She is doing better, ever since starting her joint supplements. Prancing around and tail up and wagging at dinnertime.

Things wont be the same without her here, but she is going to get some much needed surgeries to better her life. If you'd like to help with the costs of these surgeries, it would greatly help, and Eve-a (and our family) would be very grateful.

Eve is doing well today. She is refusing all food last night and today. I cannot even get her to eat a slice of cheese (her fave treat)....hoping everything is ok. on pins and needles to get this golden girl started on the road to health.
