10.10.2021 is World Mental Health Day.

With everything going on in the world, there are many uncertainties that can cause a lot of anxiety which can lead to more severe problems.

Taking time for your own mental well-being is a must. Whether it's getting together with loved ones, getting in a stress relieving workout, or just submerging yourself in a nice warm bubble bath with your favorite beverage, nice relaxing music and a book, you can only be good to others if you yourself are good.

And sometimes that means seeking the assistance of a therapist. Not to tell you what to do but to help you find your way. There is no shame in getting assistance. It's not a sign of weakness. It's a sign of strength. That you are willing to do whatever it takes to help yourself. And to make this world a better place for all.

"I say put mental health first, because if you don't then you're not going to enjoy your sport and you're not going to succeed as much as you want to. So it's okay to sometimes even sit out of the big competition to focus on yourself because it shows how strong of a competitor and person that you really are, rather than just battling through it. " -

It takes a strong person to battle through mental hurdles. It takes an even stronger person to realize that they need to take a step back and take care of their mental hurdles before anything else. Mental health is just as important as physical health. They play hand in hand.

People who may have Borderline Personality Disorder must show a pattern of behavior that includes at least five of the following symptoms:

- Extreme reactions—including panic, depression, rage, or frantic actions—to abandonment, whether real or perceived.

- A pattern of intense and stormy relationships with family, friends, and loved ones, often veering from extreme closeness and love (idealization) to extreme dislike or anger (devaluation).

- Distorted and unstable self-image or sense of self, which can result in sudden changes in feelings, opinions, values, or plans and goals for the future (such as school or career choices).

- Impulsive and often dangerous behaviors, such as spending sprees, unsafe s*x, substance abuse, reckless driving, and binge eating.

- Recurring suicidal behaviors or threats or self-harming behavior, such as cutting.

- Intense and highly changeable moods, with each episode lasting from a few hours to a few days.

- Chronic feelings of emptiness and/or boredom.

- Inappropriate, intense anger or problems controlling anger.

- Having stress-related paranoid thoughts or severe dissociative symptoms, such as feeling cut off from oneself, observing oneself from outside the body, or losing touch with reality.

Seemingly mundane events may trigger symptoms. For example, people with BPD may feel angry and distressed over minor separations—such as vacations, business trips, or sudden changes of plans—from people to whom they feel close. Studies show that people with this disorder may see anger in an emotionally neutral face and have a stronger reaction to words with negative meanings than people who do not have the disorder.
