🕯️✨ On This Day: Early Labor Nesting Energy ✨🕯️

When those first waves of labor start rolling in, sometimes the body’s not rushing—it’s preparing. Cleaning, folding, pacing, breathing. That quiet, rhythmic nesting before active labor is sacred work too. 💜

Early labor isn’t just contractions—it’s a conversation between your mind, your baby, and your space. Move gently, hydrate, rest when you can, and let your instincts lead the way.

I take a moment to get into alignment - mind, body, and heart. Light movement, deep breaths, and vibing to my favorite playlist help me release any anxiety and show up fully present for the families I support. Being a doula isn't just about what we do — it's about how we prepare to hold space. Music + Movement = amazing Doulawork, & Doula work begins within.

✨ Birth doesn’t always go according to the vision board… Sometimes, it pivots — fast — into a cesarean.

As a full-spectrum doula (and anyone who’s been in LD), you know that moment changes everything.

💬 What’s in your toolkit when a planned birth shifts to the OR?
Drop your best pivoting strategies ⬇️

Let’s make this a space for doulas, birthworkers, parents, and partners to share what helps keep things grounded, supported, and human when the plan changes. 🖤

Tenisha Evans, only 24 years old, gave birth to twin boys via C-section in Queens, NY. Just 15 days later, she was found unresponsive in her bed. Her family had been told her pain was “normal.” Now, her sons are growing up without their mother — and her family is still searching for answers.

Tenisha’s story is a tragic reminder that too many Black mothers are still being dismissed, neglected, and lost in a system that refuses to listen.

As we wrap up Black Maternal Health Week, we remember Tenisha, honor her legacy, and continue fighting for birth justice, postpartum care, and accountability.

Say her name. Share her story. Demand better.

In this video, I reflect on the urgent need to address maternal health disparities, especially within Black communities. As we observe Black Maternal Health Week, I share insights on the ongoing challenges Black women face in healthcare, particularly in birth and postpartum care. These issues often go unnoticed, but it’s time to shift the narrative and advocate for change. I also offer practical ways to support Black maternal health and highlight resources that empower birthing individuals. Join the conversation, and let’s work together to create a more equitable healthcare system for all mothers.
