I’m excited to announce that my brother Bobby and I have written a new book, The Edge of the Sticker. It is out today and available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Apple as well as other outlets for ebooks and paperbacks.
The title of the book refers to the process of peeling a sticker off a surface. The first step is to get your fingernail under an edge so you have something to pull. It doesn’t take much to get started and once you’ve got it, sometimes the sticker pulls right off. Other times, though, it rips, and you have to find a new edge. The same idea applies to dealing with psychological issues. You begin by getting an edge then doing the work to get yourself unstuck, though the path is not always linear.
The idea of writing this book has been a dream of mine for decades, but it only began to take shape during the early weeks of the pandemic in March 2020. Bobby suggested that I do a Facebook live stream about the psychological impact of Coronavirus. Our conversation on Monday turned into a 4:00 presentation that Thursday. We thought I would do it for a few weeks and then we’d be back to our normal lives. Well…it turned into a series of 54 consecutive weekly talks.
Thanks again to Bobby, we began to consider the idea of turning the Facebook content into a book.
We quickly realized that the topics I highlighted had broad application beyond COVID. With the addition of stories and examples from my 30 years of practice, we have written a book with advice to help understand our emotions and experiences as we cope with life’s challenges.
I hope you will find it an easy to read book that can help you start the process of making positive changes in your life. Please get a copy and see for yourself. We are also doing a weekly podcast, also called The Edge of the Sticker, that picks up where the Facebook Live streams ended. It’s available on Spotify, Apple and other podcast platforms.
