Year end birth statistics:

Four birthwork workshops/classes taken, obtained my SBAP certification and started formally doing bodywork on pregnant clients.

60 births attended total (as a doula and student midwife)

15 VBACS

3 of those VBACS were VBA2Cs

3 c sections, two by parental choice, one for extended PROM with no signs of labor.

4 families planned a vaginal breech birth, all babies rotated head down before birth with bodywork. Spinning Babies forever and ever amen.

All of these births were attended in all settings (home, hospital, birth center), and were in several different states.

2025 will be bringing some very welcome changes, including me taking formal time strictly off, something that hasn’t happened in over five years. Current bookings for Jan-February clients are open.

I don't believe that babies are just passengers in their birth.

I believe that babies are smart and skillful in navigating their environment.

So much so that they can feel the space they are navigating requires them to tuck a limb to either keep moving forward and/or slow their descent.

A hand under the chin could be utilized as a power anchor by the baby to keep their head pressing strongly against any tight space like a very strong pelvic floor.

Babies are regularly participating.

And things that theFlor Cruzikes to call "malpoHugo Limaften just the baby making smart moves that require us to listen to the baby and be patient.

One of the most beautiful moments of my life happened where my hands were blessed as a midwife and birthworker, by a midwife who had that blessing passed down to her as she became a new midwife.

I will never take this work for granted. It is an honor to be present at every birth, death, loss, and rite of passage I am invited into.

This week marks another trip around the sun for me. It’s been a transformative year. The years I did the hard things that terrified me. The year where I also attended a record number of births.

One year ago exactly, I wrote down all of my worst fears, exactly five of them, and then took steps to face and do every single one of them.

The very last one was my birthday gift to myself and filled my inner theatre kid’s heart with so much joy. I stood on stage in front of a crowd of hundreds of people and sang my heart out. It was terrifying and also the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.

May this next year be as full of metamorphosis, alchemy, and also softness and love 🖤🌈🦋

Your reminder that real women who are healthy eat. And eat enough.

I try to practice what I preach to my midwifery clients (eat to satiety, so much protein and fiber, fruits and veggies every meal, and enjoyable meals.)

This meal had forty grams of protein and twenty grams of fiber and is a running staple in our house. Paired with blueberries and sparkling water with magnesium powder added for lunch.

I am currently accepting midwifery clients under my preceptor for 2024 and 2025! Since I work in a birth center, I am able to accept insurance including Medicaid, for those looking for a holistic out of hospital birth experience.

I should be licensed by spring 2025 and then it is my hope to also offer homebirth in my own practice, while also working at the birth center to accommodate Medicaid clients.

Now booking overnight postpartum doula support for the month of July. I have years of experience in twins, medical needs babies, NICU babies, and babies with feeding or sleeping issues.

I am very familiar and comfortable with both lactation and formula usage.

We also have an office starting in July and will be booking Spinning Babies based prenatal bodywork.
