Stress is one of the biggest culprits behind hormonal imbalances and a disrupted cycle, but did you know that dark chocolate could be your secret weapon to take the edge off?
 
Dark chocolate, especially varieties with 70% or more cocoa, is rich in magnesium, which can help reduce cortisol, your stress hormone, naturally. Magnesium is also key for relaxation and can support overall hormone function.

Where are our low-iron girlies? 😫

If you have ever had low iron, then you know that it can lead to fatigue, lower stamina, poor focus during the day, and even changes to your menstrual cycle. All factors that impact daily performance, workouts, and reproductive health. That’s why starting with intentional nutrition habits like this iron-supportive smoothie can help maintain energy and nutrient needs.

What’s in it?
✔️ Spinach: A plant-based source of iron that may contribute to oxygen transport and endurance.
✔️ Banana: Offers carbohydrates for energy and potassium, a nutrient that supports normal muscle and nerve function.
✔️ Almond Milk: A dairy-free beverage that may be fortified with calcium and magnesium, nutrients important for muscle function and menstrual health.

Dietitian’s Tip: Plant-based (non-heme) iron isn’t absorbed as efficiently as iron from animal sources. Pair this smoothie with a good source of vitamin C, such as strawberries, oranges, or lemon juice, to enhance iron absorption. Or you can have a few eggs on the side to provide protein and iron.

What you eat in the morning may matter, especially for your hormones. For some women, skipping breakfast or relying on sugary, low-protein options (cough, cough Starby's mocha latte with oat milk) can potentially throw off your blood sugar and cortisol levels, making fatigue, cravings, and mood swings worse throughout the day.
