I’m sharing my story because I refuse to believe midlife, perimenopause, and menopause are disease states.

They are transitions.

And transitions deserve support.

Medication and HRT can be helpful, but they cannot be the only conversation.

The better question is:

What environment is supporting my body through this transition?

Light.
Darkness.
Sleep.
Nourishment.
Safety.

Midlife is not the time to fear your body.

It is the time to support it differently.

Start with light. Build from there.

This is one thing I protect wherever I am, in every season, no matter how full life gets.

Because sunrise light has given me a way back to my body, my energy, and my health.

At almost 50, this is one way I invest in my future self — my “retirement health.”

And just as importantly, it is how I teach and model the value of health to my child, through simple daily rhythms that show her health is something we live, protect, and return to.

Fifteen years ago I hit a wall training for marathons.

Not mental. Not physical. Something deeper.

I found the Bohr effect. How oxygen is released from red blood cells into every single tissue in your body.

I stopped training harder and started retraining my breath.

This is where things start to feel confusing for a lot of women.

🥚 They tell you to avoid eggs because they raise cholesterol.
But egg yolk is one of the most nutrient-dense foods for supporting your cell membranes.

◆ They tell you to avoid all omega-6 fats because they’re “inflammatory.”
But Omega-6 fatty acids are actually essential for building healthy cell membranes.

💊 They sell you fish oil capsules even though these oils are extremely delicate and easily oxidized during the extraction process.
Excessive omega-3 fatty acids can also affect membrane integrity.

💕 Your cell membranes are where your receptors live.
When they are compromised, those receptors don’t function well.

My whole life has been one long performance.
And this winter… I’m stopping the show.

For almost 50 years, my life ran on one silent program:

“Work harder.
Achieve more.
Prove it.
Don’t disappoint anyone.”

🔸Taiwanese school system.
🔸US education system.
🔸Pharmacy school.
🔸Residency.
🔸Clinical pharmacy work.
🔸Then another degree in functional medicine & nutrition.1,000+ hours of mentorship.

Different environments.
Same underlying program!!😔😔

These past few weeks, through deep inner work, that story finally loosened its grip.

And here’s the honest truth — the vulnerable truth:

The thought of “doing more” right now makes me tired.

I know I’m not the only woman who’s lived her entire life in performance mode
measuring her worth by achievement, productivity, and proving herself over and over again.

Your body is allowed to say:

Your morning is the most powerful medicine you’re not tapping into fully yet.

Before you change your diet or add another supplement…
pause and really ask yourself:

What signals is your body receiving before anything else...

Because— your morning sets the tone for everything your biology does next.

When your rhythm is off, it can show up as:
🌜 Tired in the morning, wired at night
🥱 No hunger until noon
🍫 Cravings that hijack your intentions after 3 PM
🔥 Weight that doesn’t shift even with “perfect healthy” habits
💤 Sleep that looks fine on your tracker but you feel the difference
And the hardest part?

Most women don’t realize this pattern is not just a habit.

It’s a biological rhythm issue.

Your body runs on time before it runs on food.

Every organ has a clock.

Every function follows it.

Every cell listens for signals that tell it

A mistimed rhythm keeps your body guessing. and a guessing body can’t heal.

You don’t need more willpower.

You need a rhythm your biology can trust.
