Yesterday I got to take newborn photos at a birth client's home. Their baby was born at 27 weeks and this warrior of a mama birthed him unmedicated in the hospital and has pumped and nursed him to a whopping 8lbs. She is a fellow photographer, and these photos yesterday really felt like a celebration. To her, he now feels like what you would call a 'normal' baby (and he is so healthy) and definitely looks like he was just born. It's a deep valley that she has walked through to have him home and to celebrate a traditional postpartum experience even though he's been here for 3+ months. It's an honor to know them, to witness the journey, and to hold space for families like this. Taylor has gone from someone I respect, to a birth client, to a friend I love deeply. I learn from her every day. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this time for you, Taylor.
