I don't think most Americans are aware how useful acupuncture can be in the treatment of chronic disease or for rehabilitation. In the case of rehabilitation from stroke, the Chinese have a renowned stroke recovery program. 98% of Chinese stroke patients are able to return home and live on their own, whereas, only 68 % of Americans can return home. That's 32% of Americans after a stroke that have to live in long term care facilities. Hopefully one day, acupuncture will become an integral part of mainstream treatment plans.
