New Human 'Organ' Was Hiding in Plain Sight — National Geographic

This is pretty amazing! In Chinese medicine, there is an organ called San jiao. I always had a hard time with the concept of this mysterious organ during school: it is supposed to encase all of the other organs. Well, here it is!!! The interstitium, scientists found, is under our skin and between our organs. Understanding it may eventually help treat disease.

The Jade Institute | Re-Establishing Optimal Health Postpartum

I am nine days Post c-section so postpartum recovery is on my mind. It is common for women in Other cultures to follow a month or 40 day period of postpartum recovery to regain their strength. In Chinese culture this is Called the “ sitting month”. With my first child, I did not observe this and my health probably suffered. The second time around, I am trying ( and sometimes failing) to take better care of myself and follow the time tested recommendations of Traditional Chinese Medicine postpartum recovery. Below is an article on postpartum recovery. During pregnancy, the focus is often on supporting the health of the mother as it directly affects the growth and development of the fetus. But in traditional Chinese medicine, maintaining a woman's health is also highly emphasized in the postpartum period and the care she receives during this time...

Desperate Stroke Patient Goes to China for Proper Care

I don't think most Americans are aware how useful acupuncture can be in the treatment of chronic disease or for rehabilitation. In the case of rehabilitation from stroke, the Chinese have a renowned stroke recovery program. 98% of Chinese stroke patients are able to return home and live on their own, whereas, only 68 % of Americans can return home. That's 32% of Americans after a stroke that have to live in long term care facilities. Hopefully one day, acupuncture will become an integral part of mainstream treatment plans.
