Smallest 2020 Baby: 6 lb 7 oz

BIGGEST 2020 Baby: 12 lb 7 oz
(Mom only gained 13 lbs in pregnancy, it was ALL baby! No blood sugar issues or anything.)

What are some questions you have surrounding the doula/pregnancy/labor/delivery world 🌍🌿🌱🌻

I’ll start: a frequently asked question is “can I just have a doula instead of a midwife?” The answer to this question varies person to person and here’s why. A midwife is a medical professional trained and certified to intervene if necessary. Many at home/birthing center deliveries go so smoothly thanks to the help of a doula, that the need for intervention is not required. However having the peace of mind that a midwife is present is priceless.

You probably didn't know this, but hospitals in the United States actually charge new moms to hold their baby for a couple minutes after giving birth. A tiny moment of 'skin-to'skin' contact between mother and child costs more than many people earn in two or three hours of work. The healthcare system in the US is greedy and inhumane.

-Reduce postpartum bleeding
-Improve mood and milk supply
For baby:
-Provides oxygen
