New year, same mission— just bigger rooms. ✨

I’ll be speaking at the Leadership Conference on January 31st, getting into resilience, leadership, and how we actually sustain ourselves in systems that expect us to be “on” at all times— especially in healthcare.

If you’re familiar with the “strong one” storyline, the over-functioning era, or the quiet burnout that comes with being dependable… this conversation is for you. 🫶

This is the heart of Spero’s work: Building leadership and well-being that doesn’t require self-abandonment to be effective. Looking forward to being in community with people who know burnout isn’t a badge of honor— and are rethinking what sustainable leadership really looks like. 🎤💬

New Year’s intentions really be like: “I’m working out EVERY day.”
Also… reality: “the way my life is set up” 😭💀

This clip is from my 2024 convo with my friend Nadie and I love it because it’s the most honest version of “wellness” I’ve heard in a minute: not a body goal… an energy goal. Like, “I just wanna feel healthy—and if life turns into an episode of Law & Order and I need to RUN? I can RUN.” 😂

And the “sorry Mr. Attacker, let me catch my breath” line takes me out every time—but also… it’s real. We’re trying to feel ready for our own lives, not audition for a gym montage.

Going into 2026, I’m taking this with me: set goals that match my real life, not my highlight reel.
And if you need to tweak your intentions so they’re actually doable? That’s not quitting—that’s wisdom.

What are you choosing this year: the “every day” version… or the sustainable version you’ll actually keep? 👀

Meet our newest team member, Jaylyn! 💙🤍

Jaylyn Bishop is a Baylor University junior majoring in Psychology with a minor in American Sign Language— and she’s also my sorority sister studying at my alma mater, which makes this full-circle moment extra special.

She’s joining Spero Psychological Services as our newest intern and will be supporting our mission through research-informed psychoeducation + mental health advocacy content. With a strong academic foundation and a clear passion for the clinical psychology/ psychiatric field, Jaylyn is excited to keep learning, growing, and helping us translate mental health topics into accessible resources for our community.

Welcome to Spero, Jaylyn!

to my 2024 podcast episode 🎙️

This clip is from a convo with my frat brother .born.second_ where I shared how being in workplaces where my culture and identity are ignored (or low-key used against me) honestly felt like having a whole second job 🫠

That’s a big part of why I created Spero Psychological Services—to help build spaces where culture, belonging, and equity aren’t “extras”… they’re the starting point.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing unpaid emotional labor at work, just know, you’re not the only one noticing it. 🧡

Can y’all believe 2026 is less than a month away? Time has been flying by, for real! And you know, there’s always that ‘New Year, New Me’ buzz, but who needs that pressure? Instead, how about we shift to ‘New Year, Healed Me’ or ‘New Year, Kind to Me’? 🌿 Let’s honor the growth we’ve made and give ourselves permission to live that soft life and be healthy because that’s just as powerful. Rather than feeling like we have to reinvent ourselves, let’s step into 2026 with a little more self-love and a lot less pressure. 🌟

Here’s a peek into a convo I had with my entrepreneur bestie Nadie with . We’re unpacking why culturally competent care in the medical field and in mental health spaces is a must—because, let’s be real, these systems weren’t built for all of us. Let’s break down the barriers to access care/ resources together and push for real change. 💯

On Wednesday we celebrated Mamita Gloria turning 87 years young — and she loved her surprise birthday party. 🥳

Twenty-seven years ago, she left Colombia and came to the United States to help my mom with childcare. She didn’t just help raise me— she passed down resilience, comfort, and a whole lot of sass 😅

Because of her, I know that softness and strength can live in the same person — you can lead with warmth and still stand up for yourself.

So grateful for the legacy she’s building in our family, and in me. 💐✨

Community really is the secret sauce. 💛

In this clip I’m talking about why we need each other now more than ever. Especially in a moment where the Department of Education is out here debating whether counseling and social work degrees even “count” as professional for student loans (make it make sense 😅)… we know the work still matters.

I met my friend Nadie in our counseling psych grad program years ago. Fast forward and we’re basically inseparable—cheering each other on, building our careers, and holding each other down as we try to be the kind of change agents we wish to see more of in the world.

That’s the power of community. Degrees can get reclassified, but the work we do and the way we show up for each other? That’s real, that’s sacred, and that’s not going anywhere. 🤎

Tag your grad school person or work bestie who turned into family. 🫶

International Students Week reminder: Being on a whole different continent chasing degrees, careers, and dreams is already a FLEX. ✨

On my fraternity brother ’s podcast , we talked about how so many of us, especially people of color, downplay our wins. Like, “Yeah I’m here, I’m doing the thing… but I should be doing more.” That hits hard for international students and international student-athletes.

New country. New system. Visa stress. Family counting on you. And still the voice in your head says, “It’s not enough.”

I had to check myself too — Spero is thriving, my kid is thriving… this is not the Humble Olympics. 😅

If you’re an international student (or were one), drop ONE thing you’re proud of in the comments. Big or small. Let’s practice saying it out loud instead of shrinking it. 🌍💬
