August is National Wellness Month, which is a great time to focus on overall well-being, whether physical, mental or emotional.

Melons are a part of the gourd family and grow on vines. Over 42,000 acres of watermelon are grown in over 100 counties in Texas

Yesterday at the Introduction to 4-H Summer Camp, BLT agent, Jasmine and Harris County 4-H program assistants, Sydney and Isabella taught the kids about MyPlate, food safety and healthy hydration.

The kids made their own “Mr. and Mrs. Pear Head”, played MyPlate relay race and participated in an activity to learn about the spreading of bacteria.

We will be at the Community Event Day this Saturday. Stop by to get nutrition tips and recipes!

Summer Camps are in FULL swing!

BLT Agent, Sarah, started the 4-week program, "Walk N Talk", at Weekley Boys & Girls Club & Connect YMCA.

Walk N Talk is a combination of physical activity & nutrition. During both summer camps, participants did MyPlate Relay Race. This activity encourages kiddos to work as a TEAM by helping one another guide the specific food model to the correct food group & gets their body moving!
