My husband & I have been on a health journey in 2024. He lives with an autoimmune disease called PMR and I live with Type 2 Diabetes. Making small changes in our diet, incorporating movement and wearing continuous glucose monitors has made a big difference. We also take medications that help but the biggest improvements have been from consistent behavior change. I give Weight Watchers a huge credit for our behavior change. I joined WW Clinic and began a GLP-1 in late 2023. I’m down 55 lbs, my A1C is down and I feel better than ever. We did all this while traveling! It isn’t easy with routine disruptions but it can be done! I’d love to help you if you have any questions, please reach out. 💜

I have been on a health wellness journey for 20 years. I have been every weight. The thing I am most proud of is inspiring others to take a chance on themselves. I have made a lot of new friends on this journey. What inspired me to make this video was that recently I noticed how many old friends don’t seem to be part of my life any more. No drama just quiet quitting I guess you could say. I fear this has nothing to do with me per se but about their own headspace on their own aging situation. Where I grew up, people got old in their 40s & 50s (less so these days thankfully). Y’all, I am gonna fight to be the best me at any age. I started this journey out of a desire to reverse my Type 2 diabetes and a little vanity. I’ll stay on this journey to continue fighting T2D and a little vanity but also to LIVE!!! Live my best life. We only get one. It starts with saying YES and deciding not to quit. Will you quit quitting with me???

These are some of my favorite Tampa people. I look at this picture and feel sad that I didn’t get to be the me with them I am now. I was struggling with my weight and how to drink all the wine & have fun with these amazing women. A few of these gals were more open about trying to balance the wine & the wellness. I’ll just be honest. For me, it was the wine & my weight. My weight was climbing but I didn’t want to miss out. So in most of my Tampa pics, I’m in the back. Hiding-ish.
I wish I would have known back then that I could balance it better. I am so thankful for WW because it has shown me how to be self-compassionate on my journey. I can have the wine & the girls night out but….no- let me rephrase that…AND…. I get to choose some other behaviors to help keep me where I want to be (healthy weight, no diabetes meds, and not hiding in the back). Face to Face Friday. Keep on keeping on. 1 meal of high point foods isn’t going change your life for better or worse. It’s all about consistency. Love yourself & have self compassion. Negative self talk can lead to the “punishment” way of thinking. Every choice you make, make with love for your body, mind & spirit. This is how we do the wellness journey with joy. And when we have JOY, we may just choose the behaviors that fuel us toward our goals- like eating veggies instead of a large banana pudding (what I’m holding in my hands in the photo on the left).

Yesterday the sun was shining in Arizona. Today is cold (30s ya’ll) 🥶 in Houston. I’m making chicken soup from scratch and soaking up the warmth. What is it about chicken soup?? What is your favorite way to make it? I put purple cabbage, onion, celery, holiday cut carrots, a few tomatoes and 1 big potato in the stock pot so far. What should I add?
