After three years of trying to have a second child, our daughter, Korie, was born with long QT syndrome. She struggled through her short six months of life, having a pace-maked placed immediately after birth as well as received daily medications to help keep her heart functioning as properly as possible. Tragically and unexpectedly, Korie passed away in her sleep on October 7, 2013 from a cardiac arrest. We knew we wanted another child, not only for ourselves, but also for our older daughter Brodie to have a sibling to grow up with. Of course, we didn't want to experience such devastation ever again. We made the decision to undergo IVF treatment which would give us the opportunity to use gene selection to ensure a healthy embryo that would not carry the Long QT syndrome gene, like our first two daughters and myself do. After two rounds of IVF, our rainbow baby Kacie was born on July 29, 2015. Kacie was born just as we expected- healthy, beautiful and perfect in every single way. While traveling for a wedding on October 16th, 2015, we once again received the most unimaginable phone call and were told our perfectly healthy baby had passed away in her sleep at just 2 1/2 months old. We are once again faced with extreme devastation and pain, and our hearts are completely crushed. We want to do something to honor and remember our sweet angels. Korie & Kacie's Kare Kitties has been developed to not only honor them, but also to provide other children in the hospital with something to comfort and cuddle with. We chose kitties because they are playful and active, and both of our angels loved our cats snuggles and cuddles. We have chosen a specific kitty that we feel fits our mission perfectly. This particular kitty is a colorful rainbow- just like Kacie, the heart on its chest represents our love for Korie and Kacie.
