Starting 2026 with a bang? 🎆 If your festivities involve fireworks, remember to celebrate safely. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, an estimated 14,700 people were injured by fireworks in 2024. Burns were the most common injury, making up 37% of all fireworks-related emergency room visits.

🏥 For serious burns, immediate medical attention is critical, and you can always find help fast at a local emergency room. For complex cases, specialized care is available through our broader HCA Healthcare network, which is home to 11 American Burn Association-recognized burn centers across nine states.

🧠 A is a bulge in a blood vessel in the brain. It can rupture without warning, leading to a life-threatening stroke. Many aneurysms go undetected so it’s critical to be aware of the most common symptom as well as risk factors.

Across our broader HCA Healthcare network, caregivers treated more than 3,000 brain aneurysms last year. HCA Healthcare has 43 comprehensive stroke centers and cares for more than 70,000 patients admitted for stroke treatment annually.

We're thrilled to announce our newest AirLife base in Hempstead!

“Our AirLife team worked diligently with the Waller County EMS Board, our aviation partner Apollo, and community stakeholders to plan and approve this new AirLife location,” said Jared Lee, regional assistant vice president for medical transportation. “In critical emergencies, minutes matter. This new base allows us to bring high-quality emergency care directly to rural communities and rapidly transport patients to Houston-area facilities equipped to meet their needs.”

If you’re struggling with depression, these tips from the NAMI may help you manage it better so you can enjoy holiday festivities:

🎯 Be aware of your personal triggers.
✍️ Try journaling or writing a gratitude list to shift your perspective.
📅 Do your best to avoid overscheduling – it’s okay to say no.
🛑 Set boundaries with people who make you feel negative emotions.
🧘 Make time for relaxation, deep breathing or meditation to help ease stress.
🍷 Drink in moderation as alcohol can amplify negative emotions.

This , we’re especially grateful for the compassion, strength and dedication that define our HCA Houston Healthcare family – and for the opportunity to show up for others in meaningful ways.

Throughout the month, our colleagues have hosted food drives and volunteered at local food banks sorting, packing and loading food to provide meals for those in need in the communities that we serve.

HCA Healthcare’s commitment to community goes beyond clinical care. In 2024, the organization contributed more than $48.5 million in enterprise giving to community organizations, while colleagues volunteered 240,000 hours and contributed $18 million to community organizations — matched by HCA Healthcare.
