In a study involving patients that underwent laparoscopic surgery, researchers measured the levels of chemicals typically found both pre and post-operatively and found the level of harmful chemicals were markedly higher in patients post-operatively when they were on a controlled, medical air supply in the OR.

It’s official! RI Governor Gina Raimondo signed a bill Monday that requires all hospitals and freestanding ambulatory surgical facilities to adopt policies to use a smoke evacuation system for surgical procedures that generate surgical smoke.

Great news from Rhode Island that House Bill 7082 passed both the House and Senate and is awaiting signature by Governer Gina Raimondo. This bill would require all hospitals and freestanding ambulatory surgical facilities licensed in the state to use a smoke evacuation system for surgical procedures that generate surgical smoke.
