FEAR INTENSIFIES SYMPTOMS OF DIABETES
FEAR consumed me when I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes years ago and spent 30 days in the hospital.
After a 6-hour test to confirm my pancreas was functioning well, I was admitted. And nurses continued to take my blood every 3-6 hours while I was restricted to my bed. My pulse and blood pressure were high, and I needed to urinate every 60 minutes when admitted. Things got better slowly over the first of four weeks.
Besides my family's daily visits, I only saw nurses and one doctor, who told me if I did everything right, I may live to be 60-63 with this incurable disease. What caused it? No one could explain that in 1976.
Today the world has learned that diabetes. like hundreds of other chronic illnesses like cancer, Lupus, Rosacea, Tinnitus and more, is an incurable in the medical world. Auto-immune illnesses may be caused by more than genetics, which means we all have power to improve our conditions.
Backed by decades of verified research, wellness specialists in mental health therapy have found solutions beyond medicine's maintenance routine of pills, medicines, shots and procedures.
Years later as I coped with 3 insulin injects daily and restricted diet as a teenager, I doubted whether I would ever control my blood sugar enough to lead a happy and full life. But something miraculous happened in the technology world.
First in the 1980s, testing blood sugars became incredibly more accurate as finger pokes allowed for precise blood sugar monitoring. But blood sugar trends didn't become possible to track until about 2017 with 10- and 15-day sensors tracking continuously sugars, trends, overnight movement and blood sugar averages over weeks and months.
SOLUTIONS FOR THE DIABETICS
With a consistent mental and physical fitness plan, flexible nutritional meals and technology, my insulin doses have dropped by 50 percent of more in the last 5 years. My weight is down, endurance is up, and I have perhaps 1 low blood sugar event every 2 weeks. My A1C numbers have been in below 6.8 for nearly a decade.
Today with coaching on medicines, sensors, mindset, healthy eating, exercise and optimal wellness routines, any diabetic who better control their life and life expectancy. Fear no longer needs to rule the day.
Be aware that very few patients receive proper training to live healthy and thrive when they are diagnosed. Why? The cost of medicine limits the amount of days you can be in the hospital and work with dietician/nutritionist, exercise physiologist, personal trainer/coach, mindset coach, etc.
If you or someone you know is diabetic and feeling overwhelmed, too busy to track their sugars, or are simply neglecting their diabetic health, reach out for help if they want solutions for the real world.
