Spoke to the family of an addict who left treatment this morning and is currently terrifying them so that they enable him to do what he wants to do. Run, hide and use. While talking with them I once again realized that they have no more power to not enable him than he does to not use. Same disease. A disease that is not about drinking, using, or even enabling. It is a disease that fights madly to survive, and kill its hosts. Sobering reality.
