Happy 4th of July!

How do you take care of yourself during a holiday?

1. Get enough sleep. (I know this can be hard on a day such as this where there is much celebration.)

2. Eat healthy. Well…it is ok to indulge a little in barbecue and picnic food on the 4 of July, right? But be sure to return to healthy eating habits the day after.

3. Exercise. On a holiday?? Sure! You can go for a walk in the neighborhood to see fellow neighbors outside who may be having a picnic. I remember “block parties” during my childhood. You can go for a walk to a local park and enjoy nature or to a local outdoor area where they may have a holiday event. Perhaps you can go swimming. It is fun and healthy!

4. Connect with others. Spending time with your loved ones on a special day can allow you to experience enjoyment and ”feel good” emotions.

5. Alternately, be sure to take some moments for yourself as well. Napping, reading a book, meditating, snuggling with your pets, or any other activity you enjoy doing solo.
