Are you overfeeding your pet? It's easy to do when you're using an eyeball measurement or just filling up their bowl.

To ensure your furry friend is getting the right amount of food, calculate their daily caloric needs using a dog or cat calorie calculator.

Divide that amount into two or three meals and be mindful of the treats you give them. Treats should take up no more than 10% of their daily calorie intake. Want to make sure you're feeding your pet the right amount?

Did you know that you can brush your pet's teeth every day?

It's an easy way to maintain their oral health and prevent future dental problems. Look for special pet toothpaste that's flavored like beef, chicken, fish, or peanut butter.

And don't forget about dental diet food to prevent plaque and tartar buildup.

Did you know that exercise is crucial for keeping your pet healthy? A healthy diet is just one piece of the puzzle. Encourage your furry friend to get up and get moving every day.

For dogs, a lengthy walk or a game of fetch is ideal. For cats, short play sessions a few times a day are best. No matter the activity, just make sure your pet is moving.

Want to know if your furry friend is at a healthy weight? Here are some key points to keep in mind:

🐾 You should be able to feel their ribs under a slight fat covering.
🐾 Your pet should have a visible waistline when viewed from above.
🐾 Your pet should have an abdominal tuck.
🐾 If you can see your pet’s ribs and spine, they are too thin.
🐾 On the other hand, if your pet has no discernible waistline and their belly sags, they’re too heavy.

Ask our team for more information about your pet's body condition.

Neutering your male pet can help address several problem behaviors. Neutered pets are typically less aggressive, less likely to urine-mark their territory, and less likely to exhibit mounting behavior on people and other pets.

Neutering also helps reduce the risk of certain health issues, and can prevent overpopulation.

Identifying and eliminating your pet’s trigger is an effective way to reduce excessive barking. To do this, observe your pet’s behavior and determine what environmental stimuli prompt them to bark.

Then, try to change or eliminate the trigger. For example, if your dog barks at people walking by your house, consider blocking their visual access to the window or door, or move their bed to another room.

Similarly, if your dog barks at the sound of the doorbell, try placing a sign on your door asking visitors to text instead of ringing the bell. By eliminating or changing the trigger, you can help your pet feel calmer and reduce their barking.

Dental disease can be incredibly painful for pets, but since they can't tell us how they feel, we may not realize there's a problem until it's too late.

Chronic pain and inflammation caused by dental disease can lead to behavioral changes like lethargy, irritability, and decreased appetite.

That's why it's important to schedule annual dental evaluations as part of your pet's regular preventive care exam.

A thorough dental procedure can help alleviate pain and discomfort, making your pet feel like a whole new animal!
