💥A basic etiquite of labor and birth: talking only when necessary. Conversations, especially when a mother is asked questions during surges, is one of the easiest ways to disturb the flow of birth. This also keeps the birthing parents away from their parasympathetic sphere (think calm, safe, and relaxed states). I always kindly reminder birth companions in my HypnoBirthing classes to protect the birth space by having as minimal conversations as possible. If conversations need to happen, whispering or low-toned voices are best!

💥How is 2026 treating you so far? I recently had a chance to see a mama baboon and her nursling sitting on top of the car! It is always interesting to run into all kinds of mothers in nature and appreciate their hard work. The driver gave her a cream cheese roll and she quickly ate it! I knew she was hungry and would finish it since she is breastfeeding. IYKYK 🥲😆🫠

💥Let's talk about prenatal bonding! Did you know bonding doesn't have to begin after the birth? Parents can bond with their baby in utero. There are numerous studies spanning decades on the evidence of prenatal bonding. Interactions between parents and babies help develop the child's social, personality, language, and overall health development.

💥Parents: How are you preparing for labor and bith? Having your birth preferences ready ahead of time, choosing the right provider, the right enviornment, and supportive people are all essential for an empowering birth experience. You are only birthing this baby once! Your preparation is an investment not only for your own spiritual/emotional health but your baby's too.

💥Here are some of my favorite relaxation prompts to say to parents in labor!

1. "Relax your jaws". Jaw relaxation is crucial for a more comfortable birth since the jaw and the pelvic floor have a connection. A loose jaw means a relaxed pelvic floor - ask any pelvic floor PT or dentist!

2. "Go ragdoll" or "Go boneless". These are easy ways to remind the mind and body to simply let go of any tension and let loose!

3. "Soften your hands". Soft hands mean soft or relaxed shoulders too. Did you know that women can tighten their fists during labor? A simple way to ride the surges with ease is to allow to palms to remain soft and relaxed.

4. "Let your shoulders drop." Tension in the shoulders mean tension all over the arms and down to hands! Shoulders pointing down is a good sign that the birthing parent is loose and limp in labor. You can also gently press down the shoulder if you notice they are tense.

5. "Breathe in relaxation' Breathe out tension." This is one of the simplest yet powerful prompts for partners/birth companions. Partners: pay close attention to how your partner is breathing. Is it slow and rhythmic? Is your partner taking the breath all the way down to the abdominal muscles or is she doing chest breathing (a potential sign of distress)?

🌺Parents learn all these awesome prompts, the importance of partner's support, and so much more in our HypnoBirthing classes! Curious about signing up? Send me a DM! You can also check out our website: www.sakinakbirth.com.

Pregnancy isn’t just exhausting — it’s one of the most energy-intensive things a human body can do.

Researchers found that carrying a baby requires 2.2 times more energy than running a marathon every day for nine months. In fact, pregnancy pushes the human body to its absolute metabolic limit — more than most extreme athletes ever reach.

So the next time someone says “pregnancy is natural, not hard,” remember: it’s basically the ultimate endurance event.
