I have avoided posting about this for a long time but now feel it is time.
There are some serious unjust and unethical behaviors going on in the Medicare Advantage Section of the Medicare benefits. It is very troubling and more debilitating for the Medicare recipients than what is already known.
As an RN I have personally had a lot of internal struggles trying to find the balance ethically and morally on how to navigate this big carrier ruled system. As someone who receives standard payments from insurance company as regulated by CMS , I am a representative of every carrier I contract with . I choose to contract with all but 1 available in my area to be able to provide individualized guidance and support for all clients or patients . But since last year there have been some actions taken by carriers to manipulate their business that is focused on their profits and shareholders . So obviously we know corporations have to take this approach but when it goes against the actual thing they are receiving $ from federal government to do , it is wrong!This has a huge impact and I am attaching a link to a well organized website ( becsuse it is too much to explain in a post) with links to get involved if you feel compelled . Most importantly please educate yourself . This is a hard system to navigate and of course happy to answer questions but unfortunately the $ these carriers are making is well spent lobbying to keep out of media and away from those in office and those that have the power to do something. We owe it to our elders to educate ourselves and speak up for unethical behavior that is limiting their care but also misappropriating and unfair trade practices with government $ that taxpayers have no choice but to pay a system that is not providing what it was intended to do .

And if you are thinking that you are not using Advantage plans but have Medigap . You need education too because this is inadvertently causing changes with that section of Medicare too !
