We believe we should help people when they lose their homes to disaster, their jobs and become homeless, unable to pay for medical treatment due to cancer, or too impoverished to attend college. Our staff, volunteers and those we serve work together to address the effects of homelessness, assistance during disasters, provide scholarships for underprivileged students and medical bill assistance for

cancer patients. Our programs empower the most vulnerable among us to improve their quality of life by providing shelter, food, water, scholarships and medical bill assistance during hardships.

The Ebola outbreak in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo is "spreading rapidly," the head of the World Health Organization warned during a press briefing on Friday.

WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that the U.N. health agency has upgraded its risk assessment for spread at the national level from "high" to "very high." At the regional level, the risk remains "high" while the global level is still "low."


There have been almost 750 suspected cases and 177 suspected deaths from Ebola in the DRC, the WHO said in a post on X.

So far, at least 82 cases of Ebola have been confirmed in DRC as well as seven deaths, but Tedros said "we know the epidemic in the DRC is much larger."
Ghebreyesus described the situation in Uganda as "stable" with two cases confirmed in people who traveled from the DRC, with one death, though he confirmed three new cases on Saturday morning.

A sad day: 77 homes lost or damaged by stinky Fire In Potter County.

Potter County Judge Nancy Tanner emphasized the impact of this on those who lost their homes.

“This is a sad day. 52 people are without homes,” said Judge Tanner. “Keep the prayers coming.”

Assistant City Manager Donny Hooper answered some media questions.

He addressed the cause of the fire, saying again the city will probably never know.

The Stinky Fire ignited in a landfill on Sunday, and wind gusts over 30 mph rapidly spread flames past containment lines and into populated neighborhoods, officials said.
"It is extremely heart-sinking ... this damage. But there were numerous that were saved," said Dunlap, crediting the quick work of the local firefighters battling the blaze.
