**Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Education Week**
Do you know the difference between Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia?
Dementia is a broad category of symptoms, while Alzheimer's is a specific disease that causes dementia.
Dementia can be caused by various factors (stroke, Parkinson's disease, etc.), while Alzheimer's is a specific condition caused by physical changes in the brain.
Alzheimer's disease has a distinct pattern of progression, typically starting with memory loss and advancing to severe cognitive impairment. Dementia from other causes can progress differently depending on the underlying condition.
In short, Alzheimer’s is a disease that leads to dementia, but not all dementia is caused by Alzheimer’s.
