If your goal in ERP is to “make the anxiety go away,” you might be missing the point.

When we focus only on extinguishing fear, we risk avoiding the very experiences that build real resilience. The anxiety might go down, but what happens when it doesn’t?

Instead of chasing comfort, we can work on building confidence in our ability to tolerate discomfort and disconfirm feared outcomes.

It’s not about feeling better right away. It’s about learning that you’re stronger than the fear wants you to believe.
