Yes, I eat corn, but I don’t eat it often. Why?

I don’t eat corn often because there are more nutrient dense options I could choose for carbs, vitamins and minerals. Corn still has benefits though.

Wait what? I’ve been told that there’s no nutritional benefit to corn at all. Well that’s a lie.

It contains protein, vitamins and minerals, fiber and antioxidants. And I don’t know if you know this but corn on the cob is a quintessential staple of summer. And well, we just aren’t through with it yet here in Houston.

Here’s an easy salad.

Season and cook black beans in tomatoes sauce, cumin, salt, pepper and jalapeños. Add frozen corn, can of organic Rotel, season with lime juice, cumin, chili and serve or warm or cold with some avocado on top.

So good!

I wish 15 year old me knew just how much 35 year old me was going to be just fine. I wish 15 year old me knew just how much the people around her wouldn’t define who she was going to be at 35. I wish 15 year old me knew just how awesome 35 year old me was going to be. I wish 15 year old me loved herself as much as 35 year old me. I wish 15 year old me didn’t have to endure the things 35 year old me is healing from. I wish 35 year old me could tell 15 year old me it’s all going to be ok.

I pray that 55 year old me can look back at 35 year old me and say damn, you were a baddie.

Wellness is more than just nutrition. You can eat right. You can exercise right. But if you don’t heal the wounds and create the boundaries to your respect right, then you can’t experience wellness in its full capacity.

Today I invite you to journal what 15 year old you should know about you today.

Eating healthy, and working out are only a piece of the puzzle to our optimal health. We also must identify patterns that hold us back that could be related to traumas or otherwise typical life stressors.

Having a quality therapist can help with some of the bigger issues that may be contributing to some physical problems you are experiencing. As they say…or science shows, the body keeps the score.

Our Story

I started out in the military, went into optical and finally found myself in the birth community. I have done many things in my life but my passion in this world is offering up everything thing I have learned and am learning. You will find that I share many things in regards to yoga, birth, postpartum, healthy foods and how to live an alternative healthy lifestyle. I hope to give you new information and learn from you in the same way. Namaste.
