Welcome back to Self-care Sundays for Seniors!
Each week, we're sharing simple, research-backed tips to support senior health and wellness.

Tip #2: Boost Independence and Life Satisfaction
There’s something deeply fulfilling about accomplishing a task or spending quality time with others. Whether it's completing a project or enjoying an evening out, meaningful activity and connection lift our spirits—and that doesn’t change with age.

In fact, a 2007 study found that seniors who engaged in social activities or meaningful tasks reported greater independence and overall life satisfaction.

Encouraging purpose and connection isn't just uplifting—it’s empowering. 💪

🎶 “Keepin' perfect rhythm with the song on the radio…” 🎶
Sean — our beloved Music Man — brought the house down with his toe-tapping rendition of "Driving My Life Away" by Eddie Rabbitt!

And those overalls? Worn in honor of his grandfather, who first inspired Sean’s love of music and good old-fashioned country charm. From driving our residents to filling their hearts with classic hits, Sean brings heart, heritage, and harmony to every performance. 💙

🎉 B-I-N-G-O and we had fun-o! 🎉

Today was full of laughter, friendly competition, and winning smiles as our residents enjoyed a classic game of Bingo—joined by some of our wonderful volunteers! 💛

There’s nothing quite like the joy of calling out that winning number or sharing stories between rounds. Big thanks to our volunteers for bringing the energy, encouragement, and extra sparkle to today’s game! 🥳

Welcome to Self-care Sundays for Seniors! Our new series with one tip per week to improve health and wellness.

Tip #1: Stay Connected With Loved Ones 👨‍👩‍👦
Meaningful relationships are essential at every stage of life—and that includes our senior years.

Here are some effective methods to sustain social connections:
- Participating in special interest clubs
- Engaging in phone conversations 📞
- Exchanging emails with loved ones 📧

You can also schedule regular interactions, such as:
- Monthly Sunday dinners with family or friends 🍽️
- Weekly breakfast or coffee dates with friends ☕
- Religious activities like weekly church services ⛪
- Utilizing video chat platforms such as Zoom or FaceTime 🖥️

Have you met Mr. Hicks? Named for Hicks Street, his previous residence nearly nine years ago, Mr. Hicks is a cherished member of our community.

He is particularly fond of rowdy play with Alan, our Environmental Services Director, and Sean, our Activities Coordinator and Driver, but his favorite person in the world is Kerri, beloved Activities Director and adopted goat-mom. He also loves spending time on his wooden bridge and wooden wire spools.

Speaking of, we are pleased to announce that the construction of a new bridge and goat-house started today. Stay tuned for the grand reveal next month!
