Plants produce hormones, some of which are the same as those in humans.

The compounds they use to regulate their own hormones can also influence ours.

For example, both humans and plants have a circadian rhythm and produce melatonin to help regulate it. When we consume melatonin from plants, it can impact our circadian rhythm.

Another example is estrogen. Both humans and plants rely on estrogen to manage growth and reproduction.

In plants, these hormones are called phytoestrogens, and when we eat them, they can help alleviate symptoms related to hormonal changes, such as those experienced during menopause.
