đź’š Happy World Compliment Day! đź’š

A kind word doesn’t just lift someone else, it lifts you too. Giving a genuine compliment is a simple act of self-care, spreading positivity, and boosting your own mental well-being.

But beyond that, making others feel appreciated meets our human needs of being seen, recognized, and valued. Receiving recognition feels amazing, and giving it can be just as rewarding. Watching someone’s face light up after a compliment is a full-on win-win.

Too often, there is the thought that we only praise for extraordinary achievements, leaving many underappreciated and overworked in pursuit of validation. Let’s challenge that. Let’s make recognition, gratitude, and kindness a regular practice. When we take the time to notice, appreciate, and affirm each other, even for everyday efforts, we nurture each other's mental wellness.

Today we pause with intention to show support for those who are still here, who have survived, and who may be hiding in plain sight needing our compassion.

March 1st is Self-Injury Awareness Day, a time to increase understanding and reduce stigma around a deeply misunderstood struggle.

Self-injury is often a sign of emotional distress, not attention-seeking. It can involve harming oneself as a way to cope with overwhelming emotions or numbness. Many who struggle carry their pain quietly. Signs may include unexplained injuries, withdrawal, difficulty managing emotions, or low self-esteem.

If you are struggling, please know this: you are not alone. Support is available. Help is possible. Reaching out is a courageous first step.

Check in. Listen without judgment. Create space for honest conversation.

Because there is hope. đź’š

If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 988. You are not alone.

When you are going through struggles, putting in effort, navigating setbacks, and working toward growth, you are living that reality every single day. Most people don’t see the day-by-day or minute-to-minute moments.

People often only notice when someone blooms. What isn’t visible is the steady, courageous work happening behind the scenes. Behind every step forward are individuals actively working on their mental health, choosing recovery from substance use or addiction, trying to secure stable and affordable housing, searching for employment, strengthening emotional regulation, and often doing all of this while also healing physically.

This is the work that happens quietly in our community every day. The appointments kept. The applications submitted. The hard conversations. The small victories. The setbacks that require someone to begin again. Real progress is layered and complex, and it deserves compassion, patience, and support.

So much more is happening beneath the surface than what the world sees. When we support mental health, recovery, housing stability, and whole-person wellness, we are not just celebrating a moment of growth, we are honoring the process it took to get there.

Today brought such a meaningful surprise from our friends at Stored Technology Solutions, inc., who dropped off their haul of donations for our Hygiene Basic Essentials Drive.

Their generosity goes far beyond items in a box. These everyday essentials: soap, toothpaste, deodorant, and shampoo help to restore independence, promote wellness, and remove small, but real barriers for the individuals we serve in our programs. Access to basic hygiene products can make the difference between showing up confidently to an appointment, interview, or group session or not.

We are incredibly grateful to StoredTech and their employees for stepping up, giving back, and standing alongside us in support of our community. Partnerships like this remind us that meaningful change happens when local businesses and community members come together with purpose.

Get Involved. Get Inspired. Get Connected.

Negative self-talk can quietly shape how we see ourselves, affecting our self-confidence, self-esteem, and resilience. Often, we don’t even notice the critical voice running in the background, but its impact is real.

Taking the time to slow down and be gentle with ourselves is not just a moment of kindness, it’s a deliberate practice of self-care. When we pause and notice these negative thoughts, we create an opportunity to reframe them, turning discouragement into curiosity, struggle into growth, and doubt into action.

Shifting our inner dialogue is more than just positive thinking, it’s building a foundation of resilience, compassion, and self-respect. Each time we replace harsh self-criticism with understanding and encouragement, we strengthen our ability to face challenges with confidence and hope.

So challenge yourself! Whenever you catch yourself saying “I can’t” or using negative self-talk, pause and write it down. Then, reframe it. How can you say it differently? If you’re unsure how, reach out to a trusted support for guidance.

We had a great time connecting with students and community partners at the SUNY Adirondack Community Health Resources Fair yesterday.

Members of our Dual Recovery team, including our Peer Specialists, were on-site to connect with students, sharing information about our programs and services. Not only that, but we also educated the students on who we are, what we do, and how we meet people where they are.

Students also participated in our upcoming Tree of Hope Celebration by completing mental health ribbons that will be displayed on Friday, May 8th, in Glens Falls City Park.

Their thoughtful, kind, and empowering messages are a reminder that it’s never too early to learn about or have conversations around mental health and wellness.

❄️ Weather Update for Today ❄️

Due to snowfall and the need for road cleanup, all our offices: including Administration, Caleo Counseling, and 230 Maple Street (Support Services and Health Home Care Management) will be opening at 10:00 AM today.

This delayed opening allows time for plows to clear the roads and helps ensure safer travel for both those we serve and our staff. Your safety and well-being always come first.

Snow days can also serve as a gentle reminder to slow down. When the world feels rushed or unpredictable, choosing patience and mindfulness can make all the difference.

Take a few extra minutes this morning to breathe deeply, move intentionally, and check in with your mindset.

Many people don’t realize that eating disorders are mental health conditions.

An eating disorder isn’t about food alone, it’s about your relationship with food. It can develop when someone uses control of food to cope with overwhelming feelings, stress, trauma, or difficult life situations. Unhealthy eating behaviors may show up as restricting food, binge eating, purging, rigid food rules, or constant preoccupation with weight, calories, or body image.

Stereotypes have long suggested that eating disorders only affect one “type” of person. That narrow narrative causes too many individuals to go unseen, unheard, and unsupported.

The reality is that eating disorders impact everyone no matter their experiences, age, genders, or body size. There is no single look or profile.

This week, during National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, we challenge the stereotypes. We create space for real conversations. We remind people they are not alone.

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available.

Recovery isn’t a journey you have to walk alone. What can help make it empowering is having support when you need it, whether you’re navigating your path solo or looking for a tribe to walk with.

For those managing both mental health and substance use challenges, having a space that feels safe can change everything. A space where you can speak honestly about your lived experience. without fear of judgment. A space where you are seen, heard, and understood.

That’s what Dual Recovery is about.

With Peer Support, there's no rigid structure that makes you feel like you have to say the “right” thing. No expectations about where you should be in your journey. No comparison to someone else’s timeline.
