Have you cast your vote yet for Best in the Region 2026?

Caleo Counseling our outpatient mental health clinic, has been named a Top 5 finalist in the Best in the Region 2026 awards for Counseling Center in the Health & Wellness category, presented by The Post-Star.

This recognition reflects community voices and lived experience, in turn elevating the importance of accessible, compassionate mental health care and the real impact it has on people’s everyday lives.

Each day, the work at Caleo is grounded in meeting people where they are, providing person-centered support, and walking alongside individuals as they move through healing, growth, and wellness.

Voting is open through Wednesday, April 22. You can vote once per day in each category using the official ballot:

Growth looks different for everyone and sometimes, it starts with an opportunity.

Our Work Program, coordinated by our East Side Center, continues to grow, recently adding a new position within our Wellness Garden. These opportunities are designed for individuals receiving support through our agency, creating space to build skills, confidence, and independence through hands-on experience.

This morning, our newest crew member stepped into that role and got right to work. With a fresh mulch delivery from Adirondack Landscape Supply, they helped mulch the beds surrounding the Cutshall-King Memorial Garden near our high tunnel, contributing to a space that supports both wellness and growth.

Every task, every moment, every step forward matters.

Join us this Saturday, April 18th, at The Hyde Collection for their 35th Annual High School Juried Show, where we’ll be tabling alongside the Warren Washington CARE Center to share resources and support youth mental wellness.

This milestone exhibition highlights student artwork from across Warren, Washington, Saratoga, Hamilton, and Essex counties, showcasing a wide range of creative expression, from painting and photography to sculpture, ceramics, and more. This year’s exhibition received over 450 submissions, with 135 student finalists selected from across five counties, showcasing an incredible range of youth creativity and expression. It’s an inspiring opportunity for young artists to explore their voice, build confidence, and engage with the art world in meaningful ways.

Creative expression offers a powerful outlet for emotion, identity, and connection by supporting mental health and wellness that helps individuals process experiences, reduce stress, and build a stronger sense of self.

Showing up to support our community partners and local events means more than attendance, it means actively engaging in spaces that strengthen mental health and wellness across our region.

We are incredibly grateful for this unique opportunity to support our community partners at The Hyde Collection and to be part of a space that uplifts youth voices, creativity, and mental wellness.

The exhibition opens to the public at 3:00 PM following the awards ceremony.

Stop by, experience the art, and connect with us.

Today is National Garden Day!

As the spring weather arrives, we’re reminded that growth takes time, patience, and care, just like our mental health.

Gardening is more than planting seeds. It’s an opportunity to build life skills, strengthen independence, and create space for reflection and healing. From nurturing routines to developing responsibility and confidence, a garden or your green space can become a place where progress happens one step at a time.

Our Wellness Garden is a living example of how connection to the earth can support connection to ourselves. Each plant cared for, each task completed, is a step toward empowerment, stability, and well-being.

Growth takes time, and every step matters.

For many people, recovery involves more than one layer of healing. What’s often not visible is how mental health and substance use can overlap, shaping each person’s journey.

Our Dual Recovery Group offers a peer-supported space where individuals can show up as they are, without judgment or expectation. It’s a place to talk openly, listen, and connect through shared understanding and lived experience.

Each week is an opportunity to build connection, explore coping skills, and support one another through both challenges and progress.

Sexual violence can have lasting effects on an individual’s mental health, sometimes in ways that aren’t immediately visible.

The impact may show up as trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, or dissociation. For many, these effects don’t surface right away. They can appear weeks, months, or even years later as individuals begin to process what they’ve experienced.

There is no single or “right” way to respond to trauma. Every person’s reaction is different, and so are the emotions that come with it. Survivors may experience shock, fear, shame, or self-blame, feelings that can deeply affect overall well-being and may be connected to challenges like substance use or thoughts of su***de.

If you or someone you know is struggling, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Resources like the RAINN hotline are here to support you. You can call 800.656.HOPE (4673) or text HOPE to 64673 24/7.

Growth can feel isolating sometimes.

When you’re making changes, setting boundaries, or prioritizing your mental health, not everyone around you will understand, and that can be hard. It can bring up stress, doubt, or even the urge to explain yourself.

But your journey isn’t meant to be explained to everyone.

Whether it is mental health, substance use, or addiction recovery, or both, your journey is filled with healing, growth, and changes that are deeply personal. The most important thing is that it makes sense to you and supports where you’re going.

Keep choosing what moves you forward, even if it doesn’t make sense to others.

Stress doesn’t always look the same. Sometimes it’s overwhelming and hard to ignore, and other times it lingers quietly in the background, building over time. However it shows up, it can take a toll on both our mental well-being.

Thats, why even during times of stress prioritizing your self-care is important.

A tool one of the clinicians at Caleo shares is a simple “take what you need” reminder, offering things like patience, love, self-control, kindness, confidence, and hope. Not because we’re lacking, but because in moments of stress, it’s easy to forget those parts of ourselves are still there.

Self-care doesn’t have to be perfect or planned. Taking a moment to slow down and tune into yourself can be a powerful step in caring for your well-being.

If today feels heavy, you’re not alone. Support is here when you need it.

Being a member of the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce and especially the Adirondack Non-Profit Business Council continues to open the door to meaningful opportunities and new experiences.

Their latest Non-Profit Chat was no exception. Community partners from local businesses and nonprofit organizations came together at Creative Jam in Lake George for an engaging and creative experience. It was a chance to connect differently, a creative way. It helps us build relationships, share ideas, and strengthen collaborations that support mental health and well-being across our communities.

A huge thank you to Darcy and Creative Jam for such a memorable experience. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and be inspired in a space that brought us all together.

Moments like these remind us that partnership goes beyond our day-to-day roles. When we come together with intention, creativity, and a shared purpose, we expand the ways we can support one another and the people we serve.

For many, the relationship with alcohol isn’t simple. It can be complicated, personal, and at times, overwhelming. If you’ve ever questioned your drinking or how it’s impacting your life, you’re not alone.

There is no one path, it's different for everyone, and change doesn’t have to happen all at once. What matters is having access to safe, supportive spaces where you can reflect, learn, and take steps at your own pace.

If you’re looking for a place to start, one of the many resources available is the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s free Alcohol Screening Tool. It can help you better understand your habits and explore what healthier choices might look like for you.

During Alcohol Awareness Month and every month, this reminder matters: recovery, reflection, and change are not journeys you have to take alone. Support is here.
