I'm Betty

I'm Betty Betty Pettit suffered with Alzheimer's for 11+ years. Her family documented and shared her journey through social media. She passed away July 19th, 2024.

She became known and loved all over the world because of a viral video of her meeting herself in the mirror. My mother, Betty, suffered with Alzheimer's Disease for over 11 years. She was propelled to internet fame from a TikTok video I posted of her meeting herself in the mirror and showing such kindness. We continue to bring awareness to the disease and caregiving.

She always said, "I don't want to be a burden." If she could hear this conversation today, the one thing I'd want her to know is that she never was. It was our pleasure to care for her, just as she cared for us her whole life. She wasn't a burden; she was family.

We knew we had the chance to be at the beach, but mobility was becoming an issue. I suggested we walk her down to the water, even with the soft sand across the dune.

The best kind of plans are the ones you make on a whim. ✈️🏰 I was supposed to head off on a solo Disney adventure next week, but the thought of leaving Dad behind just didn’t sit right. So, I did a little maneuvering, swapped the hotel reservation, and turned a solo trip into a spontaneous father-son getaway.

Watching his face light up when I told him we’re hitting the road together? Absolutely priceless. There’s something special about trading airport stress for a long drive and a shared bucket list adventure. Pack your swimsuit, Dad—Disney, here we come!

Imagine going from blinding Florida sun to the pitch-black interior of a pavilion. For someone with severe vision loss in both eyes, this drastic shift is disorienting and presents a significant challenge. This is their daily reality.

He reminisces about the magical night at Little Rock City where he shared his first kiss with Betty, the girl who would become his lifelong partner. A playful debate about who initiated the kiss.

I have some exciting news to share with you all.
After caring for my mom Betty through her 11-year journey with Alzheimer's, I've found a way to be there for more families, 24/7. I've created Josh AI—a digital proxy of myself trained on everything I've learned, so I can support you whenever you need guidance.
This isn't about replacing the human connection we share. It's about extending it. When I can't be there live, Josh AI can answer your questions with the same understanding and practical advice I'd give you myself.
Available around the clock. Built from my real experiences with Mom.
I trust this technology because it's MY words, MY stories, MY voice. And it means I can help more people feel less alone in this journey.
