Finding My Purpose: The Journey to Becoming a Senior Placement Expert
In high school, I met a remarkable lady in her 80s at my church. She was a widow with few friends or family nearby, and I quickly became a supportive friend to her. Our time together was simple yet meaningful—we talked about life, went for walks, and occasionally indulged in bundt cakes from Arby’s. I helped her with her garden and took her to doctor’s appointments, forming a bond that left a lasting impression on me.
As high school graduation approached, my visits became less frequent, and over time, we lost touch. Yet, the love and memories we created inspired me to pursue a career in nursing home administration. I wanted to positively impact the lives of elderly individuals, the dedicated caregivers, and the families who cared for them. While being a nursing home administrator was rewarding, I felt there was something greater waiting for me.
That opportunity came unexpectedly. I found myself in Texas, unemployed and searching for direction to provide for my family while fulfilling my desire to make a meaningful difference. One afternoon, a feeling prompted me to call a friend running a senior placement business in Orange County. I remember that call vividly; it was a Monday, and he shared that North Orange County had just opened up due to a partner leaving. In that moment, I decided to take the leap and start my own journey as a senior placement specialist.
Since making that decision, my life has transformed in ways I never anticipated. I now balance my time between my family and helping others navigate the complexities of the senior living sector. The joy I feel in my work is immeasurable. I love building long-lasting relationships with families and their loved ones, guiding them through the process of finding the right senior living options—be it assisted living, board and care, or memory care.
There’s nothing more fulfilling than receiving referrals from families in need of assistance. I take pride in alleviating their stress and confusion, empowering them to make the best decisions for their loved ones. Best of all, my services come at no cost to them. Walking alongside families each step of the way, I find purpose in helping them navigate this important transition, knowing I am making a real difference in their lives.
Conclusion
Reflecting on my journey, I realize that every step—every conversation, every walk—has led me here. I am not just a senior placement expert; I am a friend, a guide, and an advocate for families facing challenging decisions. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
