We all have encountered adversity. Illness, neglect, abuse, divorce, poverty, mental health, loss, death . . . It’s healthy to grieve these situations. It’s also healthy to open yourself to allow these circumstances to bring out the best in you.
For me, breast cancer is one of the best things to happen in my life. I wouldn’t choose it! But, I wouldn’t change it. I accepted and allowed it to shape me into the best person I could become. I continue on this journey to my bedt self!

Mindful moments
It's all about choices. Sometimes you may choose what you want now over what you want most, because you are trying to mask some pain. I get it. Big picture, keep your eye on what you want most. Ask yourself before you make your next impulse purchase or decision, "does this bring me closer to what I want most?" If the answer is NO, walk away. You've got this! 💪

Mindful Moments.
The best day to start is today.
Thinking about taking a class, training, program? Just make the call/Google and learn what it entails. Cost, schedule, timeframe. That's it. This simple step will move you in the direction you are seeking.
Now, apply this perspective of simply moving forward to any of your goals/intentions. Want to save $50,000? Open a savings account and put $50, $300, $500, whatever you can. That's it. Tomorrow you can determine the frequency and amount of each deposit. Want to lose 10, 25, 50, 100 pounds? Spend an hour looking into healthy programs that have successful, lasting results. That's it for the day. Tomorrow, decide which you will commit to. The next day, contact the person/program and learn about the details. You get the idea. As long as you are moving forward.

I love Facebook Memories. Below is a post I shared a few years ago. About a 45-second read. It’s about being true to yourself and giving 100% to that which you truly want. I’m including a few pics which are relevant to the post.

What is holding back from going after what you really want? Finances? Support? Clarity? Fear?
I sent the following in response to a young lady who is contemplating going to college. If she chooses the assistant path, it's only two years. If she chooses the full path, it requires more time, degrees, and she'll be "40" by the time she is finished. Here is my reply:
Alexis, I'd like to share a little about me for perspective. In 2011, I was a solo parent with a two year old, an eight year old, and no meaningful income. I had wanted to be a clinical therapist since I was a teen. But had been told, and believed, I wasn't smart enough. In 2011, I was 46. I made the decision to go for it. I started with my AA, 2013. Then, on to my BA in psychology, 2016. And on to my Master of Social Work, 2018. 53 years old. By the way, during this time, I also battled breast cancer in 2011 and, again, in 2015. Chemotherapy both times. I was in school, full time, traditional - classes on campus, non-stop. When I applied to USC for my graduate program, friends asked how I would pay for it. I simply said I would figure it out once I got in. And I did. I managed to raise my sons, earn three degrees, and receive grants, scholarships, and other awards totaling over $235,000 during my time in school. Now, I have the meaningful work I always wanted. The income I worked for and deserve. I have freedom to continue to grow. And I set an example for my sons and other women who were limited by their own false beliefs. Go for what you truly want. If it is the assistant, then, go for it 100%. Not because you think the other choice is out of reach. If you do decide to go for the bigger goal, know that it will be hard, there will be obstacles, you will wonder if you made the right choice. Forge ahead regardless. Because I promise you, with every fiber of my being, it will be worth it.

Believing you can, you can. Though you might not.
Believing you can't won't change that you can. It just hides it.
Whereas simply getting started, however timid your first steps are, Jacque, and consistently moving in the direction of your dreams day after day, will eventually create such unstoppable momentum, you'll find it nearly impossible to believe that there was ever a time when you wavered.
Let's give them something to talk about -

Jacque has an incredible story of strength and resilience. In 2011, Jacque was raising her 20 month and six-year-old sons, on her own. To give her family a better future, she made the decision to pursue her dreams of a college education that would lead to her becoming a Clinical Therapist.
During her first semester, on her son's second birthday, Jacque learned that she had an invasive breast cancer and would have to undergo a mastectomy. Two weeks after the mastectomy, she was back in college, full-time. She stayed in school through aggressive chemotherapy and many complications. Jacque earned an AA degree, with honors, and was offered a full-ride at the University of California, Irvine as a Psychology and Social Behavior major.
During her undergraduate studies at UCI, Jacque conducted research in the area of behaviors and breast cancer. Two days before her senior year at UCI was to begin, Jacque was diagnosed with Stage III recurrent breast cancer! The cancer had returned, more aggressive than ever. In spite of having multiple surgeries, three months of chemotherapy, and five weeks of daily radiation therapy, on June 10, 2016, Jacque became the first in her family to earn a Bachelor’s degree!
Against all odds, Jacque was granted admission to her dream school for her graduate studies: Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, University of Southern California School. On May 10, 2018, Jacque walked across the USC stage to receive her Master of Social Work, a dream come true!
Jacque works with individuals and groups to share strategies to get from reverse to neutral and from neutral to living your best live and finding the personal power to achieve the personal and professional growth you deserve. Jacque believes that most of what holds us back are the deep-rooted lies we have been told and have continued to tell ourselves about our value and ability.
In sessions and workshops, Jacque embraces a client-centered approach that is directed with clinical and holistic techniques. With the belief that we are all fully empowered with the tools we need, Jacque’s methods teach the client to connect with their own power.
Jacque’s clients consistently report better physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Improved sleep quality, reduced stress and depression. One client says, “With Jacque’s guidance and support I was able to change the story I had been telling myself to a story that exemplifies my true self and my true worth.”
