🎉 Celebrating Justin! 🎉

We’re proud to highlight Justin, who is currently completing his final clinical rotation with us at DTC as part of the University of Charleston Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.

Justin is gaining hands-on experience alongside Emily, one of our most experienced Occupational Therapists, who has been serving patients at DTC for over 27 years. His work here reflects the mission of University of Charleston’s OTA program—to prepare competent, compassionate, and ethical professionals who are ready to make a meaningful impact in the world of therapy.

At DTC, we’re committed to supporting the next generation of therapists through strong partnerships with colleges and universities. These collaborations allow students like Justin to grow through real-world experience and mentorship—while enriching the care we provide to our community.

We were thrilled to welcome Mountwest Community & Technical College representing the Mountwest Community & Technical College Foundation and Alumni to the Developmental Therapy Center yesterday! 💙 It was a pleasure to share our mission, tour our facility, and explore opportunities to collaborate in the future.

As two nonprofit organizations committed to serving our community, we are excited about joining hands to strengthen our partnership and expand our impact. We currently welcome Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) students from Mountwest for clinical rotations, and we look forward to building on that foundation with even more meaningful collaboration.

🎒✨ Back to School with Wish-a-Roos! ✨🎒

At DTC, we love celebrating progress—and our Wish-a-Roo Cabinet is one of the ways we reward our amazing patients for all their hard work in therapy! 💙

What’s a Wish-a-Roo?
It’s a special coin that patients earn by reaching their therapy goals. These coins can then be “fed” to the Wish-a-Roo pig 🐷 in exchange for fun and useful prizes from our incentive cabinet!

📚✏️ This month, the cabinet is fully stocked with back-to-school essentials like crayons, markers, scissors, glue, notebooks, and even colorful backpacks! Each prize has a coin value, and patients can choose to save their coins or spend them right away.
We’re so proud of everything our patients are accomplishing—and we can’t wait to see all the smiles the Wish-a-Roo rewards bring this season! 🌈💫

Help Troy Ride with His Brother 🚴‍♂️💙

Troy is an energetic, high-five-giving child who loves playing outside—especially with his big brother, Reno. They play tag, shoot hoops, and wrestle like most siblings. However, there’s one thing Troy can’t do: ride bikes with him.

He’s outgrown the child seat he used to ride in, and without an adaptive bike, he’s missing out on family bike rides and neighborhood fun.

An adaptive bike would give Troy the freedom to ride safely and keep up with Reno—just like he’s always dreamed.

When two local nonprofits unite, amazing things happen. 💜

Through our meaningful partnership with the Huntington YMCA, we are proud to offer aquatic therapy to children and adults in our community. This collaboration is a powerful example of how nonprofits can come together to support one another—and the people we serve.

Our physical therapy team uses the healing power of water to help individuals improve mobility, build strength, reduce pain, and experience greater freedom of movement—all in a safe, supportive environment. For those with muscular challenges or mobility limitations, aquatic therapy can be truly life-changing.
