Family was once defined very rigidly: mom, dad, 2.5 kids (or more). However, there no mold for how a family looks today, nor is there a standard definition for a family in today's world. The definition of family is no longer confined to the traditional mother, father and 2.5 kids. Families today are traditional, blended, single parents, multicultural.

I've personally experienced a few of these new family formations in my lifetime. And so has my son. It doesn't matter what a family looks like, it's what's holding a family together that counts. For our family love is what holds us together. Through the think and the thin; the ups-and-downs; and even in a crisis we get through it with love. So, from our family to yours, happy National Family Day!
