Another successful September clinic 💚

We had an incredible group of volunteers, from public health fellows and medical students to PT, pharmacy, and the Marshall PsyD program.

Highlights included seeing around 20 patients, connecting four past patients with local dentists through our oral health initiative, and providing services from student doctors, PsyD, PT, glucose checks, fluoride rinses, free reader glasses, and the Health Department.

Friendly reminder: our free clinic is this Saturday, 9 AM–12 PM, same spot by the Huntington City Mission.📍

**Due to circumstances beyond our control with community partners, we cannot offer prescription glasses this month. We hope to resume soon.**

Still available this month:
• Blood pressure checks
• Glucose finger sticks
• PT services
• PsyD program support
• Over-the-counter meds
• Student-doctor visits
• Preventive health services and help connecting with a primary care provider
• Oral health tent

New this month: sign-up and eligibility screening for a free low-dose CT lung cancer screening in partnership with Marshall Health Network. Add your name to the list on site and we will contact you about event details.

What an amazing August MMO 💚🫶🏻

Today we cared for over 70 patients, with 40 visiting our student doctors. We screened 25 patients with point-of-care glucose monitoring, identifying 2 with previously unknown abnormal levels.

Ten patients received free fluoride treatments as part of our new oral health initiative, while the health department distributed multiple Narcan kits and screened numerous patients.

Every patient visited our preventative health tent, as well as receiving psych and eye care services.

What a great day to be a Marshall Medical student.

With the recent increase in new followers, we want to reintroduce ourselves!

MMO is a FREE student-run clinic providing medical care, preventive health services, and community resources to anyone in need 💚 Offered once a month at 9AM-12PM beside the Huntington City Mission.

Two of our most frequently asked questions:

How does the refraction clinic work with eye care?
Our volunteer team provides vision screenings on site at our Saturday clinic. We then schedule you (a few months out) for our refraction clinic. This allows us to measure your prescription, and order your free pair of glasses.

What about oral care?
Through our oral health initiative, we connect patients with local dentists and offer free fluoride varnish to help protect teeth from cavities. Simple but effective.

We’ll be offering our usual services, including: Student doctor, blood pressure monitoring, glucose checks, physical therapy with Marshall PT, mental health services with Marshall PsyD doctoral students, eye care, community resources, and preventative health to connect you with local providers

We’re also thrilled to continue our oral health initiative, connecting you with local dentists and providing free fluoride varnish.

What an amazing Saturday morning at MMO! We saw 59 patients, with 12 receiving care from our student doctors. 12 patients were also screened by the Health Department, and we distributed 2 Narcan kits.

A huge shoutout to our new Oral Health Tent where fluoride varnish was applied to 6 patients by our amazing volunteers. This marks an exciting addition to our services. Plus, everyone had the opportunity to receive eye care during clinic.

Thanks to all our volunteers for making this weekend such a success! 💚🫶🏻

Wow, what a great day at Marshall Medical Outreach! We cannot say thank you enough to all of our amazing volunteers who showed up and served in the hot June sun.

We saw 75 total patients! 8 were seen by our Health Department team, 10 were seen by a student doctor and received care. Every patient visited our eye care tent, preventative healthcare tent, oral hygiene tent, physical therapy, psych services, and pharmacy.

Multiple donated clothing items and hygiene bags were given away, plus dozens of free tie-dye shirts!!

What a great day to be a Marshall student in Huntington, WV 💚
