Ever wonder what a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) actually does? It’s more than just helping kids say their sounds!

SLPs support children (and adults!) in many areas of communication and swallowing, including:

Speech Sounds: Helping children say sounds correctly (like /r/, /s/, /l/) so they can be understood
Language Skills: Building vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, and understanding directions
Early Communication: Supporting toddlers and nonverbal children with gestures, signs, or AAC
Social Skills: Teaching conversation skills, turn-taking, and how to use words with friends
Voice & Fluency: Supporting healthy voice use and improving stuttering
Feeding & Swallowing: Helping children with safe eating and drinking

🌟 Language is Everywhere! 🌟

Did you know you can help your child’s language grow during everyday routines? You don’t need special materials—just use the moments you already share!

✨ Tips for Everyday Modeling:

🛒 At the store: Label items (“Look, apples! Red apples.”).

🚗 In the car: Talk about what you see (“The bus is yellow. The dog is running.”).

🍽️ At meals: Name foods and describe them (“The pasta is hot. The juice is cold.”).

🧸 During play: Model short phrases (“Push the car. Baby sleeps.”).

📚 At bedtime: Point to pictures and expand (“That’s a cat. The cat is sleeping.”).

💬 The more your child hears and sees language in real life, the more they’ll start to use it. Remember—every moment is a chance to model language! 💡
