Kinsey needed to stop at Hobby Lobby on the way home from Vanderbilt, and there just happened to be a Mexican Restaurant next door. She got the Quesadilla Garcia, and I got the Flautas de Pollo. Both dishes were good, but the best part was the salsa verde on the flautas. Prices were a little higher than normal but not too much, and the service was friendly. They were busy but still tended to us effectively.

Well, looks like we’re going to have to ground Kinsey or come up with some form of adequate punishment, because she knew about this place and failed to bring me until now. We ordered the buffalo chicken pizza with sides of ranch, but the kitchen mistakenly put the ranch on the pizza. I personally liked it that way, but Kinsey asked for and received extra ranch. The pizza was really good with a nice crispy crust and solid brick oven taste. We also got their dessert pizza, which as yummy as it was messy and diabetes causing. The food was a little slow coming out, which was mainly due to them being busy. Our server was super friendly, and the price was quite reasonable considering the quality and quantity of the food

Kinsey got hangry about halfway through Connecticut, so we found this burger joint not too far from the interstate. The complimentary popcorn had a good Cajun seasoning on it. We shared the Cream Cheese Bacon Jam and the Wrangler burgers. Both burgers were very tasty and quite filling. We also got curly fries that came with Cajun seasoning and moose sauce. The fries were nice and crispy, and the moose sauce was delicious! The prices were very reasonable, and the service was superb.

We hit the “avoid tolls” button on the gps route home, and it took us through some neat little towns. One of which had this quaint tavern/restaurant in the downtown area. We got the Duffys chicken wrap with buffalo sauce inside and the raspberry turkey panini. Since they were split in half we both got a half of each sandwich. The wrap was very good and so full of ingredients that you couldn’t put it down for fear of it falling apart. The panini was packed full of meat and ingredients. The cheese and jam mixture on the panini gave a very pleasant and surprising flavorful combination which we’ll likely crave later. The house made chips were also a very good addition to the meal as they were very well cooked however, needed a bit more seasoning. Overall, it was a great experience, the food was delicious and filling, and the service friendly the detour well worth it.

No trip to Maine would be complete without fresh lobster. We saw this neat little place on our way into Acadia National Park and decided to eat dinner here on the way out. The lobster was good with lots of meat in it. The coleslaw and potato salad were decent but obviously were not intended to be the star of the plate. Service was super friendly, and the prices were very reasonable.

While at Acadia National Park, we decided to try the park’s restaurant (at least the one that was open). We each tried a popover with butter and strawberry jam, and those were very good. Kinsey had the half turkey sandwich with clam chowder, and I had the popover pot pie. All three were delicious and possibly the best tasting of each we’ve had. The service was super friendly, and the view was phenomenal! All this despite the wind being rather chaotic.

After hiking multiple trails to see waterfalls on the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire, our lunch was burned off, and we were ready for dinner. We found this very busy restaurant in the town on the opposite end of the highway. Kinsey got the Reuben, and I got the Camp Counselor Chicken. The Reuben had a lot of meat in it and was put together quite well. The pineapple and mango salsa on the Camp Counselor Chicken was a good combination of sweet and spice. Very friendly service, good atmosphere, and hearty portions made this a good stop.

What better way to start our journey down the popular Kancamagus Highway than with a good foodventure?!? I was in the mood for pancakes, and crepes were the closest we could find. We found this neat little restaurant close to the official beginning of the highway called Dijon. I got the Tiramisu Crepe, and Kinsey got the La Belle Fraise. Both crepes were delicious, and Kinsey’s chocolate chai drink was also quite tasty. The prices were reasonable, the service was quite friendly, and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

Just south of Montpellier and a couple of miles off of I-89 is the quaint little town of Randolph, VT. A bit off the beaten path of Randolph is an interesting restaurant and pub called The Forge where tonight’s foodventure takes place. We decided to share a couple of appetizers for our meal. Our choices were the famous Canadian/northern dish of poutine and also the house special of maple chili crisp flavored wings. The poutine could’ve used some salt on the fries but was otherwise good. The wings were some of the best that we’ve ever eaten. They looked a little understaffed but still seemed to take care of everyone in a reasonable amount of time. Good food and good atmosphere.

In Burlington, Vermont’s famous Church Street Market Square sits a little bistro with an array of food options. Kinsey got the “Onion Soup Gratinee”, and I got the “Mojito Duck Tacos”. The soup was a good take on the classic French Onion Soup and quite filling. The duck tacos had good flavor, but I could’ve use more mojo flavoring and soft tacos instead of hard (perhaps I should’ve asked about soft tacos). The prices were slightly on the high side, but then again, this isn’t Alabama anymore. The quality of the food and the friendliness of the service made it a worthwhile experience!

A little south of the halfway point of Pennsylvania on I-85 is the quaint little town of Pine Grove, PA where they a neat oldies style diner just off the interstate. I got the roast beef with salad, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Kinsey got the cheeseburger and fries. All the food was good, but the green beans could’ve used some seasoning to it. Prices were about normal for a place like this, and the service was friendly. The oldies music being played in the background really fit the atmosphere of the place.
